If there was negative infinity stars- that would be my rating. I signed a contract with Rick in 2018 for a sunroom that was supposed to take 1.5 months to complete. Per contract, I was obligated to pay 25% upfront. Long story short, it's now been over 3 years and my sunroom is still not completed and leak, which my husband has had to fix. Rick has admitted to "robbing peter to pay paul". Rick is very unreliable and never comes when he is supposed to. Just this week, he failed to come 4 times. We have even stated that we will completed the decking and stairs and sub floors (his responsibility) if he just finishes the actual sunroom. He will not give me the blueprints or warranty paperwork until the project is complete, which will probably be never. it will cost me more to sue him then what my sunroom cost. this was a HUGE lesson learned. no other contractor wants to touch this project.... this has been extremely stressful. I reached out the the sunroom company with zero help. DO NOT HIRE RICK!

If I had a choice to choose negative stars, I would. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!! I'm writing this review after 4 years, yes, 4 years of not hearing from Rick Rusher, the owner of Arctic Home Improvements! My wife and I hired Rick to complete the construction of a new bunkhouse and deck, at our place, at The Glen in Maple Falls in 2018. As mentioned by previous reviewers, Rick told us that the project was a materials heavy job and that he would need money upfront. My first error, never pay a contractor upfront. An extremely long story short, after months of promises to do the job, it never materialized and neither did the return of our almost $25,000.00 USD in deposits. I live in Canada and found it difficult and expensive to try and file a claim in court for this issue. It's our understanding that Rick who is/was a member of the Bellingham Yacht Club was out buying new boats and throwing money around, most likely ours and others after taking deposits on jobs and not seeing them through to fruition. We have since completed the project, however, after speaking with Rick a few years ago, I thought he might step up and be a man and an upstanding human being and try to reimburse us for his fraudulent actions. We wanted the return or our hard earned money he stole, scammed or robbed us of, you fill in the blank. I'm surprised this criminal is still able to display his company on HOUZZ and if HOUZZ truly respects and values the reputable companies they have on their website they'd remove Arctic Home Improvements and Rick Rusher from the website. HOUZZ should vet and follow-up on these types of reviews, individuals and companies to make sure others aren't taken advantage of.

DO NOT USE THIS CONTRACTOR. Contractor stated project could be completed in 30 days, although after 5 months no work was completed. Contractor requested upfront downpayments for 1) summer project priority and 2) to purchase project materials - however, once contractor received funds, he took another project out of state, didn't order project materials for months, and misled that contractor was checking with supplier about order, blaming production delays, when actually materials had not been ordered. Contractor didn't respond to requests for project updates, and never provided requested copy of purchase order to confirm materials purchase from downpayment funds. After five months and NO work completed, and after requesting a refund for failure to deliver a project as promised, contractor stated that he had no funds, although admitted he received downpayments for project and materials. Please check previous reviews, and be advised, LOOK ELSEWHERE.

If I can rate lower I would. We contracted him to replace our deck. As others have said, he had excuses why he could not come workband needed money for the project. This 2 to 3 week project was drug out for 6 months. At one time he would not even take my calls or answer my text messages. I had to call him from a 3rd party phone number to get him to answer. I finally got him to come finish my deck. We had to list our house in an unexpected need to sell, but he drug is feet for almost 1 month and causing our closing date to be moved. After he finished, he said we owed him money after we calculated that we were actually even. He did not agree and he threatened to put a lien on my house and disrupt the sale of my house. This man is a Fraud and a Thief. For your own sake do not do business with him.

I hired this company for a shower renovation with demolition completed. While working with Arctic Home Improvement, there was little to no communication throughout. My deposit was cashed immediately, and afterwards strung on for 3 months with different excuses. The project was never completed and decided to seek a reliable contractor.

If I could rate this contractor lower I would. We sat for months after the contractor spent our money on other things. We lived in the house of hell while he was acting like a king. Currently, 2019, this contractor no longer has a contractor license, bond or insurance. Beware of having this man in your home; he seems friendly and genuine, but will take your money with a smile and run with it - then be friendly the next time you see him. Worst experience our family could have ever gone through. The work was mostly completed about 1 year later - however, the contract was never finished and we had to obtain a lawyer to get to a break even point. Please make sure you check his license status with Washington state before you consider this contractor.

I hired Rick to do a bathroom remodel which included demolishing out the old shower closet, and tub; removing the old tiles and closing off a exterior door. He came up with a great design for heated tile floor with flat entry shower, river stone floor, beautiful glass door, and perfect fixtures. Also, he selected a great tub from local shop and beautiful fixture from Houzz. I was very pleased with the workmanship. The crew was very mindful of staying neat and tidy. The project was a finished on time. A year later I am grateful for the new bathroom. I am happy I did the project.. Thank you Rick

Amazing! Professional, respectful of my property, finished project ahead of time, and reasonable cost. I highly recommend Rick and his team with Arctic Home Improvements. They built a deck, remodeled my bathroom and fixed my roof. I will definitely hire them again!

Rick is all of above . 1-4 . He will go the extra mile for you. He is honest, totally reliable.! His work is awesome, and he will never over bill you!!

I work at a home remodeling store and Rick comes in often, working with us for plumbing, flooring, tile, you name it. He brings in his clients and we enjoy working with him and the folks he brings in. He chooses quality projects and conducts himself with integrity and professionalism. His knowledge is evident and trustworthy. A treat to work with.

Work was completed on time and within budget. Estimates were fair and 'stuck to.' Qualtiy of finished work was very good.

Rick tenaciously sticks to his word. I hired him multiple times last summer for different projects and he has consistently been able to complete everthing on time with excellent quality. A great person to work with.
