Hauk Custom Pools

We have built pools before, know several pool builders and I've been in the construction industry for 20 years - so we knew what to expect, what the labor and material challenges would be and what we were looking for - most importantly we wanted someone who could execute a "modern" style pool design. We chose Hauk based on the designs and photos we saw on various platforms such as HGTV and review platforms such as this - but we should have taken the time to dig a little deeper. I will say we are very happy with the design and will eventually have a beautiful backyard, but from day 1 of construction this has been a disappointing nightmare and I would not recommend this company to anyone. We put down our deposit in November of 2020 and finally got on the schedule for excavation the end of February 2021. A weather delay and we ended up digging the first week of March 2021. It's been downhill from there. Our project manager was basically MIA, not returning calls and not keeping us in the loop on schedule. Steel and gunite came after a reasonable delay but then it would be weeks or even months before someone would show up to work for a day. Finally got tile installed in June, which was the time frame projected for completion (we really wanted to swim last summer) but then the pool sat until August before someone showed up to do decking. Oh - and I should note here - buyer beware of their contract structure - you will have to pay 99% of the price before they will send someone out for the decking. Despite complaints that we were months behind and I wanted to see progress, Hauk insisted that we had to stick to the contract terms and pay before any more work was done, but that we would be finished within the month. Funny they have no interest in holding up their end of the bargain. Decking installed - pool fully paid for and then nothing. Thru the course of the extended delays we had several material failures we asked them to correct. I escalated this to the owner - spoke with him, emailed photos and examples - no response, no site visit - no care at all about completing the job - they already have all our money. That was six months ago - the hole in my yard is having a birthday this week. We've seen workers maybe three days in that span and they are still not complete. Hopefully this review will solicit a response - I'm sure they will have some nice comments and excuses. There are a lot of companies in the market - I recommend you choose another - this one is all sales and no execution.

Have to admit it’s disappointing to write such a negative review after such a great construction project. The design and build was awesome and for the first few years everything was great. About a few after constructions was completed there was discoloration to the plaster in the pool and the owner of the company assured us that the manufacturer of the plaster would take care of it. We even had them scheduled at one point to come fix this, but then received a confusing letter saying that they had dissolved the relationship with Hauk Pools and now wouldn’t fix our pool because of improper installation. We immediately went to Hauke and were assured ‘we’re going to fix this’ to ‘well the warranty doesn’t cover the aesthetic, just if the pool’s leaking’ - all from the owner of the company. He’s even gone as far as to say that they’re suing the manufacturer of the product in January 2020 and that’ll pay for the re-plastering project, and still nothing’s happened. Later, the owner placed blame on the pool maintenance company up to the point that I reminded him that the maintenance company was their recommendation. In addition to the plaster issue, back in June 2020 (prior to the warranty running out in October 2020), a sag in one of the tables they built for us was identified. People from Hauk have been out half a dozen times to take a look/confirm that there’s a sag in the table and still nothing has happened as of September 2021. The lights they installed in the pool have also been identified as having a manufacturer’s defect in them. Some have been replaced multiple times during the warranty period, and we’ve continued to have issues with them to this day. The hopefully new (and no longer defective) replacement lights were delivered and supposed to be installed back in June, and haven’t been installed as of today (September 9th). The head of construction has informed us that the owner wants to all 3 issues that we’re having, and I’ve been waiting on a call now for a week. The worst part of this is that we sent multiple referrals over to the company after the pool was completed. They’ve sold 7 additional pools through our friends and neighbors and their customer is terrible. The service folks change regularly, and they have not been able to see what was agreed to with service folks that left the company. We paid a massive premium for the pool, and were unbelievably happy at the start - we were assured and quite honestly at this price point expected exceptional service and we haven’t received anything resembling that. The pictures you’ll see attached to this are the discoloration of the pool (looks like a dark reflection next to the hottub but that’s the pool coloring), and the dip in the table highlighted by the reflection of the neighbors behind us jumping in the middle.

In June 2017 Hauk was hired to construct a pool at my home in Little Elm for in excess of $100,000. They were provided with geotechnical data from 2 soil borings from the lot. They employed an engineer (Blake Wilson) who designed the shell structure and foundation involving 16 drilled piers. On numerous occasions during construction I had to intervene and basically double-check their project management for such issues as: Incorrect steel installed for the shell structure. Incorrect tiles were set in pool and had to be torn out and re-done Incorrect construction of stone steps leading from the house to the pool. During the “pool school”, at project completion, Hauk did not know all the functions/operations of the salt system and could not answer questions on the pump/valve controller and programming. Within a week of filling the pool with water I noticed it was out of level by ½ inch. While I had never had this much of a level issue with other pools I’ve had built, I put this down to some more shoddy work and left it at that. I was unhappy but could live with a

I can not say enough positive things about Tim Ryan! He is the BEST pool designer in the business. He is great to work with and he is one of the few that actually responds to emails unlike many other companies! If you are looking for a very innovative, forward thinking, design savvy designer he is your GO TO pool guy!

I contacted Hauk for a few repairs on my pool, Seth Hamilton came to my home spoke with me about the plan, the estimate was set up and from there everything went smoothly. Seth was prompt, and communicated clearly and efficiently every step of the way.

Everyone at Hauk Pools were very helpful throughout our whole process! Damon and Seth always went the extra mile to make sure we got what we paid for. We did very extensive research and found that Hauk was the best pool for the money by far and they didn't disappoint in any way. From the design center to our backyard they were very detailed and they literally did everything they said they would do and more! Its been 4 months from completion and they have gone the extra mile even after they were done to make sure it is perfect! I highly recommend them all the way across the board!

We selected Hauk Custom Pools after meeting with several builders. The design of our project by Peter Jackson and customer service is ultimately what won our bid. Peter was imaginative and really developed a design that completed our space and worked with our end goal in mind...a great space that both kids and adults could enjoy. During our initial meetings, we had confidence that Hauk would be able to see the project through and be a great builder to work with. After meeting our construction manager Jeremy Pecina, we know we were in good hands. We can not compliment Jeremy and his team enough. Our project was large and included the build out of a patio, bar-b-que, landscaping and lighting. Hauk was able to facilitate all the details and worked well with all those involved. Jeremy was always one step ahead and keep us aware every step of the way. He was extremely knowledgeable and was available to answer all our questions and resolved any issues immediately. A project of this size is not an easy undertaking but we had full faith in Jeremy and can not image getting this project completed without him and his team. He truly took pride in his work and strived to make each detail perfect. He took ownership of the project and cared for it as if it were his own pool. I cannot compliment this company enough on their professionalism, attention to detail, workmanship and value for money. Our Hauk pool is is 9 years old. It is as wonderful today as it was 9 years ago. Rob Hauk listened carefully to our families needs and designed more than a pool, a true backyard oasis. He visit our building site several times, was upfront about the challenges and the solutions for our project. We have a retainer wall, a slanted yard and moving soil! The project was completed ahead of schedule and on budget. I have called them several times in the past 9 years with a variety of questions or concerns. They always treat me as if I am a million dollar customer and always provide the needed advise, support or service I need! They have truly exceeded our expectations not only during the design and built of the pool, but even more so with their after care LONG AFTER THE WARRENTEE RAN OUT! They are the only contractor I will recommend!

Hauk Custom Pools did a great job, and I'm so glad we chose them for our project! We researched many companies in the area and went through the design phase with four of them. It was obvious from the start that Hauk was a cut above the rest. Damon Ferreira was our designer, and he is the main reason we chose Hauk over the other companies. He really won our business. He is very personable and really knows what he is doing. He listened to all our ideas from the start, and honed them and incorporated them into a truly stunning and unique design that we immediately knew was the one for us. We are thrilled with the end result. Damon spent countless hours talking with us, answering our many, many questions on every tiny detail of the project. He helped us through the overwhelming material selections. He was always very responsive and basically held our hand and made us feel comfortable with the process and the company every step of the way. It is obvious he enjoys his job and is a man of integrity and character, as well as a very talented designer. Rob Ciago was our project manager, and he too was absolutely phenomenal. He made sure every step of the construction process went smoothly. He explained everything to us through each phase of construction. I know he was overseeing multiple projects at the same time, but somehow he always made us feel like we were his only priority. We did have a couple of very minor issues along the way, and Rob got them corrected immediately and always had the attitude that he wasn't happy until we were happy. He even helped us on a Saturday night to schedule a plumber for an issue that was totally unrelated to the pool project. Damon and Rob are both just really great guys, and I truly believe that the quality, integrity and customer service of Hauk cannot be matched. I would recommend them without hesitation!
