Pennwood Home and Hearth

When we bought our new home, we knew that we wanted the "fireplace room" to be a cornerstone of the home. Originally built in 1986 (and built well), little had been done since then from a maintenance or updating standpoint. We knew that we wanted to change the face from brick to stone, and Pennwood Home and Hearth in Pleasant Gap, PA was the perfect choice for this mission. We came up with the design of what we wanted the stones to look like (and the hearth and mantel) and then Jeff Bolze and the team helped us think it through along the way to come up with the perfect redesign. During the process, Jeff had many excellent suggestions (like the mantel! Wow!) When the crew began work, each stone piece was carefully considered, cut, positioned (and repositioned) until it was “just right”. On more than one occasion I referred to the installation team as “artists” - which is what they were. They also worked with me to come up with a very creative solution to prepare the area above the mantel for hanging a flat-screen TV, other media or lighting. While we’re not hanging anything like there now, we’re certainly future-proofing the fireplace. They discreetly hid all of the wiring within their new stonework - just amazing! Their attention to detail during the installation was wonderful. They were very clean, professional and respectful of our new home. From the very beginnings of the brainstorming to the the last drop of mortar - we couldn’t be happier. When family or friends visit and see our fireplace (particularly with a blazing fire in it) we get so many compliments. It has truly become the cornerstone we had hoped, and we thank Jeff Bolze and the entire Pennwood Home and Hearth team for all of their time, professionalism and dedication to ensure our happiness. Beautiful work. We wanted a specific kind of Connecticut granite and Jeff hunted until he found it. We also had a built in cabinet created which eliminated dead space and looks gorgeous with all of our crystal in it. The job started and finished when Jeff said it would and the craftmanship was top notch. We have had a lot of work done in our home by various contractors and individuals, but rarely has it been done where I have felt our expectations were exceeded.

Pennwood provided great service and were very neat and clean. They used tarps and removed their shoes to protect the floors. Timely and efficient service. Very pleased.
