Tom Radca has been in the pottery business for 40 plus years, starting with functional work eventually working his way up into the art world creating challenging large scale tile wall pieces and vessels. His pottery designs have been treasured for their marvelous depth of color and lustrous highlights. Expertly handcrafted in the artisan’s rural Ohio barn studios, his trademark large scale designs and tile murals come to life. The warmth and splendor of Tom’s pieces are attributed to his carefully developed firing process. Color and effects result from controlling the temperature of firing and by introducing combustible materials to the kiln environment near the end of the firing process - a process he calls “Painting with Fire.” The durability of his glazes make his hand-cut tiles perfect for kitchen and bathroom backsplashes, fire place surroundings as well as outdoor installations and water walls. If you like bold, energetic colorful clay slip splashes, or if your style is more peaceful, relaxing and subdued and nature loving, here at "Radca Ceramics" we will work to make your tiles a statement piece for your home, workplace or commercial and health care facilities. Locally sourced clay and minerals along with recycled items such as glass, metal and plant materials for impressions will give each tile the special character and keeps the carbon footprint to a minimum.
