Kellogg Frosted Furniture was founded to help support the college education of a young man in the Philippines that head artisan Gina Kellogg sponsored many years ago through Compassion International, a humanitarian organization. Gina was Benjie's sponsor from the age of 8 until he graduated from Compassion's program at age 18. Several years later, Benjie is working toward a degree that will land him a job on a container ship so that he can support his family -- his mother and father and several younger siblings. Living in poverty is nearly impossible to break out of without the help of others. So Gina determined she would help Benjie get that extra edge that a college degree would offer him by creating a side business to pay for his college and other miscellaneous costs.
