Inspirations By Kathy

Mosaic art feeds my soul and fulfills my life’s purpose. I am drawn to the vibrancy, dimension, and movement that the glass medium offers. Each piece I create is an exercise in capturing one or more of these qualities that I have a deep appreciation for. My goal is to create a unique piece of art that has not been seen before. A distinguishing characteristic of the mosaic art created by “Inspirations by Kathy” is that many of my pieces incorporate my own hand-made custom created glitter, alcohol ink, or Van Gogh glass. This allows me to not be limited to only having access to the materials that can be found on the market. The reward in putting the extra time and effort to create my own glass is that my mosaic pieces will not be easily replicated by anyone else. Another distinction of my work is that I often employ the use of very small pieces of cut glass into my mosaics. This provides the maximum opportunity to capture the available light, so it bounces and reflects off the artwork. In using this technique, the viewer can get a sense of movement in the sparkle they see as they walk around the finished piece. My newest venture is using beautiful vibrant dichroic glass in my art. The use of this glass is typically only found in jewelry because of the expense. However, I find that using this glass as an accent in my work lends to the upscale look I desire to achieve in the art I create.
