Hi there! My name is Angela Navarro. I am an artist based in Seattle, WA. I sell original paintings, as well as prints upon request. My work ranges from naïve realism to expressionism to abstract. I draw inspiration from my garden, Fauvism, Cubism, Abstract Expressionism and Pop. I devour interior design magazines and relish on the most over the top contrasts, from sumptuous dark and jewel hues to bright imposing whites. In my view color and composition talks directly to our souls. Like a toddler on a pool of glitter, I cherish the gleefulness of red and orange and can’t help but match them with a range deep water blues, green and oh so full of life teal! I build my paintings from a base of wild strokes that define the rhythm of the painting and start building the composition with color. Each painting becomes a little dialogue between me and the canvas and ends when I am satisfied that I made my point! Maybe there is even a trace of old artist madness in there! What I enjoy from my paintings is that, beside of the different outcomes, each piece is unique and birthed from observation and internal dialogue, delivering not only a personal portrait but a piece that can be read and interpreted from the perspective of the beholder. Over all, if anything else, I present to you a fun re-take on the old traditional Flemish floral paintings, through the filter of Abstract Expressionism and Pop Art, ready to bring the excitement of nature to your home.
