Working with a highly experienced and true and professional like John Urban on the design and build of our house was an excellent decision for us. We love everything about the location and the lot. At first we had hoped that a complete remodel of the existing house might meet our needs. As we openly discussed the various possibilities and considered the numerous and serious problems with the existing house, it became clear that a complete tear-down was the best option for us. It was absolutely the right decision. We quickly transitioned to design and build mode. We had some general design layout ideas that we shared with John which he worked hard to accommodate. He showed us designs which were similar to what we had penciled out. He also took the initiative to show us a design he had come up with that maintained the functionality, feel, flow and use of space we wanted, but also worked better architecturally and fit with the slope and shape of the lot. The design was spot on. We made a few minor adjustments and the design was settled. At this point we realized that we did not just hire a design and build contractor, but had established a trusting partner-like relationship. Because we started building as Covid had struck the world, the project met with multiple challenges including; supply chain availability, extreme material cost increases and subcontractor and labor challenges. Other than the multiple unavoidable building and material delays because of the Covid pandemic, John never made any excuses or compromised the quality of the work in any way. In fact, the attention to maintaining the highest quality in materials and workmanship at every stage is one of the things I am most impressed with. We have been in the house now for over a year now and there have been a few small items needing attention since moving in and John and his team have diligently addressed them. John Urban and his team are not only excellent designers and builders, but they are also very good at managing the project from start to finish. I highly recommend Urban Design Architect for anyone who is looking to have a superior quality home built by a true professional of high integrity.

Design and engineering services for a major remodel of a 47 year old home. Urban Designs did an excellent job of incorporating our needs, vision, and ideas to come up with a great remodel plan. The design had to address some unique challenges and was carried out very effectively. We were able to balance cost and design excellence to effectively execute the vision we had for our new home.
