Studio Kohlhaas

I cannot recommend Levy Kohlhaas Architecture enough! I wanted a small house that would "live big"... accommodating my changing needs as I am downsizing and simplifying. Kimberly knew exactly my wishes and went above and beyond what I had ever expected or dreamed of for myself. I now have the most beautiful home, perfect for my needs, making good use of every inch, and I could not - in my wildest dreams- be more pleased and enchanted by what Kimberly created. Not only has my house turned out completely LOVELY, but somehow they actually incorporated my personality into the exquisite design that did not waste one square inch of space. This architecture firm went above and beyond, not only when we were dealing with what I wanted for my home, but also when we were dealing with what I did not even know what I needed and what was possible. Kimberly is talented for maximizing beautiful, light-filled space. She accommodated all of my wishes. Incorporating the beauty of the lot itself was very important to me. My live oak trees are completely celebrated! The natural light that comes into my home has been amazing... I do not even need to turn the lights on during the day! I adore my house, and am actually surprised and delighted with the final design. It has been a joy beyond to work with people that are so in tune to my needs and have so much fun in the process. This is my dreamhouse and likely my last house... I wanted to do it right, I wanted it to be beautiful, and I wanted to do it once. They were amazingly aware of what I needed as I age in my home. This is the second home that Kimberly has designed for me. She has created beautiful space in my life. It is with enormous gratitude that I was blessed with getting to work with Kimberly on not just one house, but two incredible projects. I invite anyone to call them and get a reference from me directly. If you are seriously considering hiring them and would like to see an amazing, well-crafted, smaller home, please do not hesitate to ask Kimberly to bring you by. P.S. She was very respectful of my budget and that is the bottom ass line.

Kimberly Kohlhaas, our architect, was simply extraordinary. She listened to what we wanted, studied our land, then created the exact house we wanted including some brilliant innovations that we had not even imagined that greatly added to the livability of our home. Her ability to work with our builder and her extensive knowledge of the entire process made designing and building our home a truly rewarding collaborative process.

We hired Kimberly to design our new home after ours burned down on Christmas morning 2009. It soon became apparent that we had made right choice, as Kimberly was instrumental in not only helping us design a home, but actually heal from the experience of losing everything. I'll never forget her first walk-through of the destroyed family home - my wife and I were still devastated and the destruction around us just made us sad. Kimberly began to talk about what was possible, what she could do with the space, and how we could take this tragedy and turn it into a dream home. It started a healing process by helping us look forward, not back. As I sit here five years later in my wonderful new office, I remain amazed and grateful for Kimberly's vision, passion and forthrightness. We absolutely love our home, we consistently get compliments from visitors on its design, its use of light and space, and the way it fits into our old neighborhood while being contemporary. I can't recommend Kimberly strong enough to anyone seeking a truly personal experience. We've met two other families for whom Kimberly has designed homes, and while they did not experience a devastating home fire as we did, they all say the same thing - they love their Kimberly-designed homes.
