March 22, 2024 To whom it may concern: Over a period of three years, we built four high-end luxury homes for resale in the Harrison Street development in the Issaquah Highlands. Matthew Stannard was the designer/architect on all four homes. Two of the homes were modern style, one was a northwest contemporary, and one was a cape cod style. Matthew has an understanding and intuition for the high-end home marketplace. All the homes have great layouts, natural lighting, and a look and feel that their homeowners enjoy and surely contributed to the financial success of our building projects. Matthew has a great eye for the layout of the home and how it fits with the lot it is designed to become a part of. We found Matthew to be easy and enjoyable to work with. Matthew has a technical mind and produces builder friendly designs and details. Any plan revisions were performed on a timely basis and he was able to capture exactly what we were looking to achieve. Over the past twenty five years Matthew Stannard has been our architect for the renovations of our two residences. I have to preface this recommendation by stating that I’ve been in the building industry for decades and have hired many architects for clients. I considered our main residence in Edmonds a challenge because it was originally designed by a notable modern architect and we wanted the renovation to respect the existing house and site, yet meet our design criteria. He did so beautifully, and within our established budget. He knows that regular communication between owner and client is essential. For our Hawaiian condominium, communication of ideas and details could have been very challenging. However, Matthew was available and timely with answers and solutions which kept the project on track. His design reflects the natural environment, the Hawaiian culture and spirit in a contemporary yet seeming timeless way. His finish material selection and detailing makes our condominium unique, and after many years still greatly appreciated by all who visit.
