RK Designs

I'm a builder and had another designer that I had used for years, but she was on vacation for 2 weeks and I really needed to get the ball rolling. Found Rick on Houzz, and I will not be going back to my old designer. Rick provided the best set of plans I ever had, and his background in construction was a plus. Most designers I've met don't know a thing about construction, but because of Rick's background, whenever I had a question about the design, including framing he was able to answer my questions help me come up with ideas if needed. Contractors and homeowners can't go wrong with hiring Rick.

Ricky and I chatted over the phone. He came out ready to go to work. Given the opportunity, I would recommend RK Design.

RK Designs was referred by a GC as his only "go-to" guy and very quickly I learned why. From the very first call I knew I struck gold. Ricky was very professional; explained the process perfectly, his rates/fees, projected timeline, deliverables–everything I needed to know. We met a few days later, and after walking the property, and gauging from his experience, honesty and knowledge, and he was hired and he was ready to go! The objective of this project was to renovate an entire house (1,600 sf) with minimal demo and converting an attic (with very tricky roof lines) into 2 bedrooms - 1 bath, hence increasing square footage to 2,400 and (obviously) at minimal costs. Any other architectural designer would just go with what he/she was told, Ricky on the other hand, was genuinely concerned about the cost of renovations and kept me in-check by suggesting alternatives that were more cost effective without sacrificing esthetics. The same day we met he took measurements and, believe it or not, that same evening I had "As Built" plans! I was shocked! The next day he delivered the first draft for the first level and just a couple of days later I had the entire project–architectural designs we done in FOUR DAYS. He saved us three weeks... that has to be some kind of a record! The best part, PROFESSIONAL, CONSTANT AND HONEST COMMUNICATION! And to top it off he was able to bringing our total livable area to 2,500, thats 100 sf above our goal. I can go on-and-on about RK Designs, they exceeded all our expectations and more. It was great working with you, Ricky. We will MOST DEFINITELY be back for our next project! Thank you so much for all that you have done for us and for all your advice. He made some great suggestions and guided us through the first step of new home construction. It was a long process, addition of a second floor to an existing house. Ricky was always on time for our meetings, his technical knowledge as a General Contractor proved vital in coming up with the final design. Ricky is very easy to work with, and extremely knowledgeable. He is also creative, calm, organized, and friendly.
