Our work is inspired by the Pacific Northwest's diverse landscapes and architectural histories. We design and build with a contemporary eye for adaptable materials, durable details and sustainable practices. Our goal is to create healthy places for people to identify and grow with, by building locally responsive, environmentally sensitive and innovatively crafted objects and spaces. Our name rhiza stems from 'rhizome' meaning shared roots- a metaphor for growth through teamwork. We value the unique perspectives offered by our clients and believe best results come by providing a fun and collaborative experience for all throughout the project. rhiza A+D is a full service architecture, design and building workshop offering site planning, adaptive reuse, remodels, additions, seismic upgrades, new construction, accessory dwelling units and custom design-build furnishings.

Ean and the the rest of Rhiza A+D have been amazing to work with. They take a vision, and create reality in daily structural context. We found them easy to communicate with, and full of helpful considerations when we removed the ceiling from our Ranch Style home. They interacted on our behalf with the City of Portland to assure ease of progress during the actual construction, and the outcome makes us smile every time we walk into our home.
