Rebecca did a FABULOUS job designing our lake house! We met one time at the location and told her our thoughts as to style and function for the home. She came back with an amazing first drawing. We had never designed a home ourselves before and Rebecca did a great job of explaining to us the engineering requirements of the structure and guided us carefully through any of our proposed changes. Ultimately, her first design proved to be the best design and all because of her expertise. Rebecca was always very professional and very knowledgable and as you can see from these few pictures the house is beautiful. Oh and we did all this while we were living in Hawaii with a 6 hours time difference between us, and had to construct during COVID. Rebecca was a great partner in our design and we highly recommend her.

We engaged Rebecca in 2015 to help us turn our pencil sketches of floor plans into a house on a steep lakeside lot we’d purchased in Saranac Lake. She traveled from Potsdam to examine the lot, met our builder, and visited a couple of his houses. She listened to what we wanted, what the builder was good at, then worked up some more precise plans that delivered on all that, and added some other ideas. More closets, for one thing, and a “pass-through” opening to unload items from the hall to the kitchen. Some of her ideas solved problems that our sketches had created, such as organizing the space of transition between rooms. She wisely advised against a metal roof, because precipitation runs off metal too rapidly for our lot. We left her almost completely with the task of designing the outside and realizing the sketchy fenestration on our notes. She came up with a look that is low-keyed “Adirondacks/Craftsman” but compatible with the rest of the neighborhood, most of which isn’t Adirondack-style. We only needed to tweak her plans slightly for the final building plans. The builder praised her plans as some of the best he’d worked with. Rebecca stepped back at that point (we didn’t need her to intermediate with the builder). The house was completed in 2017 and is everything we hoped it would be. The fee we paid was well worth it.

Rebecca has done several designs for us. Her work is outstanding. We have had so many compliments on the finished projects. She is great to work with and responsive to our ideas and requests. We certainly would not hesitate to work with her again.

We hired Rebecca to design our second home on a small pond in the Adirondacks. She was wonderful to work with and the project quickly went from dream/vision to complete concept and now reality. I was very impressed with her insight and professionalism and how she was able to hit the mark on the first draft with the design plans. I hired Rebecca as my architect to assist me in designing a one-story, approximately 1100 square foot house on the Lake I have lived on since 1986. The house that I had could not be renovated and had to be razed. Rebecca worked with me on a plan that fit my needs and budget. She is quite knowledgeable about the area of NY that I live in and made sure that the design would fit the surroundings. We worked out several renditions of the design, and she was very willing to accommodate any changes that I wanted to make. I began working with her in late Fall 2015 and my rebuild using her plans began in early Fall 2017. Her plans were clear and concise and fairly easy for me to understand, and she took all of my ideas into consideration while preparing them. I learned about Rebecca from other neighbors who had utilized her services, and I would certainly recommend Rebecca to anyone in the northern NY area who needs an architect to assist with a major project.

Working with Rebecca has been a pleasure. She drew up plans for a total bathroom remodel. She listened to my wants and needs and incorporated everything. She found simple ways to add more space where needed. Well, it was simple once she pointed it out to me. I never would have utilized that space without her guidance. Besides the bathroom remodel I have hired her for a few hours here and there to check over my plans before replacing/adding windows and opening up a wall in the kitchen. That was very very worthwhile. Her comments and suggestions made the results so much better. I wouldn’t hesitate to work with her again and I highly recommend her to others. The photos show before and after of a bedroom. I had planned to add a small window to the right of the door. I'm so glad that I followed Rebecca's suggestion to add a full size window. The room went from dreary and small to open and happy. As the carpenter said when he cut the opening for the window, "Suddenly the room sings." There are also before and after photos of the kitchen update. At Rebecca's suggestion I enlarged the opening between the kitchen and dining area. Again the transformation was dreary & small to open & bright. The bathroom project hasn't been completed yet.

Rebecca and Renew Architecture & Design did a wonderful job designing my dream retirement home. Rebecca took the time to make trips to the site to help me find just the right orientation for my home and then, using a basic design I had found, made modifications to create exactly what I was looking for. Communications were frequent and supportive through-out the process. Once construction is complete, I'll have a beautiful home to enjoy my retirement and time with my grandchildren! I was thrilled to find such a talented, experienced architect in a small town setting when I was planning to build a house. Rebecca was extremely easy to work with and delivered her work on schedule. She was a good listener and was able to translate my ideas into initial house sketches that met my needs, but also with added detail that gave the whole project more flair and function. Once I had a clearer idea of what my home could look like, I was able to narrow down details that were important to me, and my subsequent revisions to the plans were also easily done. Another important aspect of working with Rebecca was that she worked well with the builders!

Renew Architecture provided excellent service and a very practical design that met the needs of our project. We needed an addition to our current roof line to improve the curbside appeal of our house, while also rerouting runoff and giving more protection over our porch. We were extremely pleased with their design and our contractor easily followed the blueprints during construction. If we have any future architectural projects, Rebecca will be our #1 choice.
