ORA (optimum resource architects) is a practice which has developed an established tradition in the design of housing, the beginnings of which can be traced back to Peter Overman at Overman and Partners with whom Paul Odden worked from 1975 to 1982.
After Paul Odden left Overman and Partners the practice evolved during the 1980s with the successive addition of partners including Ross Coulter, Murray Etherington and Paul Jones.
Etherington Coulter and Jones left the partnership in 1987 to form an association with Philip Cox of Sydney and have undergone further transformations since. Simon Rodrigues worked with Paul Odden from 1982 and became a partner in Odden Rodrigues Architects in 1992. Upon leaving to form his own practice in 2006, ORA (optimum resource architects) was formed.
ORA consists of Paul Odden & Mike Pyrchla.

The practice undertakes work in three main areas - residential, hospitality and commercial - all of which involve specialised interior design services. Experience gained in these areas of design has provided the practice with a sophisticated insight into the particular qualities which give both the private and public domain their human dimension in terms of form, scale and texture.
