Lurie Building Design

I would highly recommend Michael Lurie and Lurie Designs. Having never built before, Michael provided us with a wealth of information about the process and the timeframes, and was always available to answer any questions we had. When it came to the design, we feel he really listened to what we were saying, and as a result we feel that he nailed the brief. Now I can't wait to start the build and see the design come to fruition.

When we were embarking on designing and building our first home, Michael was recommended to us by a local builder. We couldn't be happier with the service we received from Michael. Professional, consistent, patient, honest and an amazing work ethic. Working with Michael was never anything short of a positive experience. He laid out the process, costs and time frames from the start and so we always knew where we stood. If he said he could do something, he would deliver or over-deliver. If we were stressed and overwhelmed, he calmed us down. Nothing was ever too much to ask and I'm sure he did many more hours than we paid for. Whilst we had an idea of what we wanted, Michael helped shape that into a final design we are very excited to be building. He did not impose his own ego on the project, but gave guidance as required. He had a high level of understanding of the building process and cost of materials so that our budget could be achieved. I would highly recommend Lurie Concepts!!

Michael was recommended to us by someone who knew what demanding and particular clients we would be. Michael was the third professional engaged to design our somewhat unusual owner build and as such came into the project when a lot of decisions had already been made. He was willing to work with us to bring our home to fruition and didn’t impose his ego or his own design preferences on the project. He was also happy to work with our choice of materials and desire for a solar passive home. At the same time Michael wasn’t afraid to offer his opinion and expertise whenever he felt it would add to the result. Michael did what he said he would do when he said he would do it. He never left us sitting waiting and wondering what he was doing or whether there was a problem or whether we should chase him up. He was always cheerful and optimistic and happy to explain decisions or changes he had made. We have been living in our home for a bit over a year now and it is everything we hoped for and more. We would happily work with Michael again.

Lurie Concepts have been great to work with, as we are converting an old wood work shop to our (soon to be) home, there has been a few existing structures to incorporate. Mr Lurie has come up with an awesome design that we are very excite to build and see the final product. He was easy to bounce ideas off and always found an answer to our questions.

Michael Lurie of Lurie Concepts was recommended to us by a colleague due to his experience in designing sustainable homes in the south-west of Western Australia. We have only just commenced our project to have Michael draw up an individual design for our new home to maximise the views on a semi-rural piece of land we have purchased in Margaret River. We are now at Concept One drawing stage. To date we have found Michael has given us detailed information to assist us in understanding the budget required to build our home and the reasons for including certain design features in our home. The first drawings have largely met our brief, having determined our key specifications for the project, and we are very pleased with how our project is progressing. He always responds to my extensive email inquiries in a timely manner and has a measured, knowledgeable and very personable manner in our meetings. Given the delay in obtaining title to our land, he has been very good in providing us with alternatives to enable us to commence building as soon as possible. He also appears to be very mindful of a client's needs, rather than just imposing his own views on design features for our home.

After seeing some of Lurie Concepts previous work in our neighbourhood we chose to engage him to design our family home renovation/extension. Michael is professional and approachable at all times. He has a great understanding of building methodology and environmental design criteria which helps produce a quality and cost effective build. We look forward to seeing our current concepts transformed into our new family home!

Highly recommend Lurie Concepts. All our preliminary design work for our small terrace house renovation was completed with such careful consideration of matching our lifestyle with the livability of the house. I found that one of the greatest features Lurie Concepts offers is the 3D walk though via the BIMx program. This enabled us to really see what the construction would be like and the scale of the building, without having to wait until the structure is built. We appointed Lurie Concepts to design a new home in Brabham that meets the three critical elements we think are successful to building residential homes that appeal to everyday Australians - family functionality, accessible pricing and inspirational design. Lurie Concepts understood the brief clearly but also pushed us to ensure we delivered a project that stood out from the crowd. The end result was exactly what we wanted, with the home commended for it's street appeal, space and light. Since completion we have worked closely with Lurie Concepts to extend the thinking that went into the Brabham project to design a range of 6 further homes - all of which challenge the status quo with project building in WA. They've met our brief by thinking outside the square - a rare find.

I have engaged Lurie Concepts for two projects to date. Firstly an extension for a town house in MtLawley and secondly for the full design of a three by two house ad separate granny flat in Cowaramup. The level of service I have received has been exemplary and represents quality and value for money. Lurie concepts were honest and open with me at all times and made sure I comprehended the implications of the design I requested. Lurie Concepts attention to detail and thorough understanding of the building process has set me up in a great position to build exactly what I want within my budget.
