Laura has 20 years of experience providing expertise on a number of projects with a focus on residential, sustainable design, historic preservation, and multi-family developments. Based in Fort Collins, Colorado, Laura is a registered professional architect in Colorado and holds a Master of Architecture from the University of Colorado. Services include new home designs, additions, remodels or renovations for single family homes, kitchen design, bath design, multi-family residences, and project management. Project locations include Fort Collins, Loveland, Denver, Grand Junction, and Northern Colorado. Design philosophy: With each project, my goal is to create spaces with enduring style, practical function, and sustainable design. Everyone should have a home or office that functions well and is comfortable. I look to historic design for inspiration as well as considering technology, lifestyle and individual needs. When appropriate, I implement Universal Design strategies to create spaces that will function for all persons for many years. Teaching: In addition to practicing architecture, I teach Sustainable design, Computer-aided design, and Landscape Design at Front Range Community College. I am passionate about exposing college students and high school students to architecture, landscape architecture, and interior design.

Laura’s innovative ideas and fresh design perspective made me fall in love with my outdated, dark kitchen! She was very responsive, easy to work with, and stuck firmly to my established budget. We have since moved across the country, and I often wish that Laura lived nearby so that she could offer her expertise for my current home.

Laura Hicks was a joy to work with. We have never used an architect before but decided to because we wanted a quality remodel for our outdated 1980’s ranch house. We were impressed by Laura’s professionalism, her work was excellent, her support when we were overwhelmed by design elements choices, her ability to identify our taste even when we could not articulate it. She listened to us and helped us make difficult decisions by asking us questions about what we didn’t like in the existing house. She was also honest about the prohibitive cost of some of our ideas and suggested more practical solutions. Her suggestions saved us more money than she charged us which was reasonable. Hiring her was the best decision we made. We love our house. The fact that she made the process go smoothly and timely convinced our contractors of the value of having clients work with an architect especially one like her who understands the complications of remodeling older houses. I would recommend her without any hesitation.
