Our design philosophy is centered on an honest architectural interpretation and grounded in the enduring values of traditional building. Historical context, an integral relationship to the landscape, and appropriate proportion and materials, combine with the programmatic needs of our clients to create rich traditional architecture. Using the traditional language in a way that accommodates the lifestyle of today is a challenge we welcome. We strive to create timeless architecture by balancing formal concerns with the functional needs of the client. Along with our numerous new constructions, we have a significant number of renovation/restoration projects. We enjoy the challenge of modifying an existing structure to fit the needs of the client, in many cases enhancing or reinforcing the original form. Learning from and adding to the history of a building and its site is an important part of our practice.
