The architectural firm of DOUGLAS OKUN & ASSOCIATES, INC. provides comprehensive architectural services throughout the Northeast. Projects of varied size and scope demonstrate the unique ability of the office to solve a wide range of design problems. The office does not hesitate to utilize consultants, i.e., structural, mechanical and electrical engineers as well as specification writers, landscape architects and graphic specialists, when needed. The success of each project is enhanced in the early stages by assisting clients assess their needs and budget. Clients are involved in the total architectural process from programming through construction. Consultation, alternative solutions, models, three dimensional drawings and cost analysis help them understand the work so they can make educated and informed decisions. The close architect-client relationship developed through personal attention and direct communication produces design solutions which meet the individual needs and priorities of each client. The firm welcomes the challenge of each new program and approaches each design in an innovative way while drawing on experience of successful work in the past. BTA Years: Benjamin Thompson was the Chairman of the Graduate School of Design at Harvard and was a partner in The Architects Collaborative (TAC). In 1966 Ben broke away from TAC to form his own firm, Benjamin Thompson & Associates (BTA). Doug joined BTA in 1969. From 1969 to 1976 Doug worked as a designer on many projects including Faneuil Hall, North Country Community College, MIT's Housing for the Elderly, MASCO Total Energy Plant, and the Shermerhorn Residential Project.
