This is a relatively new practice for Vancouver Island. After a career of 25 years in Calgary and Vancouver, I relocated to Victoria in 2015 to start a new architectural office dedicated to the design of family homes. As a sole practitioner, I bring my personal attention to every new project. Vancouver Island offers wonderful opportunities for home design. The mild climate, luminous skies and bright foliage present inspiration for an architecture in harmony with a beautiful natural environment. I look forward to exploring these opportunities with all of my clients. I view each project as a collaboration with my clients. Design is a process of exploration and discovery, and it works best in an environment of dialogue, mutual commitment and shared goals. Even before pencil meets paper, we work toward a mutual understanding of the project goals. With no pre-conceptions, we talk through the clients’ needs, expectations and dreams, and begin to explore possibilities. Then, as the design is formed and developed, we continue to talk through all of the decisions, always with the clients’ initial goals in mind, working toward a design that is right. All ideas are welcome - to be sketched up and considered. In the inventive give-and-take, some unexpected and delightful ideas often emerge. This is my aim for each project – a design partnership with my clients.
