Design Innovation

We engaged Randall Doe's Design Innovations to do a complete renovation of a 2250 square foot 1960's house in Houston. The entire house was stripped of all sheetrock, the front door was relocated, most of the windows were replaced, several walls were either moved or removed and the ceiling raised to 10.5 feet in the living/dining area and 10 feet in the master. All plumbing and electrical were replaced and the main electrical distribution panel relocated and replaced. Mr. Doe was responsible for the design and management of the project. Randall appropriately involved us, particularly during the design phase where the overall concept and cost estimates were agreed to between us. During the course of the project he kept us informed as to the progress of the construction and the status of the actual costs against the budget. Where we requested changes or revisions to the project, Randall worked with us and guided us to be certain that all of us understood the requests and that we were fully aware of any additional costs. The design features that are incorporated into the finished house, such as the wood inlays in the floor demarking the rooms in the house, the accent lighting framing the kitchen pass through and the smooth melding of the color pallet as you move about the house, are those that I would generally expect to find in much more expensive homes. Randall invested in us to show us what the house could be and to incorporate architectural features and colors that enhance the aesthetics of the house without running up the costs. The project was completed within the anticipated schedule and budget.

Randall has represented me in at least 7 real estate transactions over a time span of 25 years. The last project he helped me with was to design my home from a plot of dirt. Randall has tremendous talent and an uncanny sense of what works or "could work". He can walk into a home and mentally redesign it. Every time I have worked with Randall he has been upbeat, courteous and cautious of my wishes. If I have a question, he is always there to help. Randall has numerous clients that have become friends, and I am proud to say he and I have developed a friendship over the last 25 years. Randall is the epitome of the best in real estate sales, design, and design consultation.

Randall Doe, head of Design Innovation, has done several remodels at 2 of our homes and both were excellent. He asks the questions no one else thinks of and he has a long list of excellent subs who can do outstanding work and are dependable. He runs the project, schedules the work and keeps things moving. His oversight is as much of a one stop shop as you could hope for. It's comforting to know you can make one call/talk to just one person and know it's handled. He's also willing to collaborate and learn from other designers and is eager to expand his experience and knowledge and work hard to come up with the best result. He has a rare combination of being able to think like a builder/tradesman/inspector as well as an architect/designer.

We have just begun our remodel project with Randall Doe as our designer/general contractor. Randall came highly recommended and, thus far, we can see why. He has been a patient guide and voice of reason and we are very thankful to have someone like him to help navigate us through this process.
