Shawn Blackwell was the architect who created the medical office building where I bought an office shell. I hired his team to design my office and he turned my space into a warm, calm, and inviting space. My patients are clearly impressed and are palpably more relaxed and comfortable. The colour schemes, finishes, and layout is refined and contemporary. Shawn answers every question and comes up with solutions immediately! Halfway though my flailing house build, I asked Shawn to step in and finish the design. He turned my standard structure into a contemporary, enchanting home. Shawn is deeply conscientous and detailed every aspect of the design. His working style is personal and professional. I am very thankful to have had the opportunity to create a home under his expertise.

We were very fortunate to have worked with Mr. Blackwell to redesign and renovate the Vancouver Special structure to bring it up to today's look. From the beginning to the end, Mr. Blackwell was very assertive and dealt with any issues associated with constructions in a timely manner and accommodated with our needs within our budgets. Shawn Blackwell Architecture successfully designed our dream house, a stunning 9,000 square foot west coast contemporary home complete with a beautiful stable on a 2 1/2 acres lot. From start to finish we thoroughly enjoyed the process. They were creative, detailed oriented, thorough and easy to work with. They also worked seamlessly with everyone else on the project and were able to get plans passed with a minimum of fuss. Shawn was always there for us when we had concerns and for the million and one decisions we had to make. He was also very responsive to our requests and suggestions and completely accessible for questions and revisions during the construction process. It was wonderful to work with such a talented professional who really loves his work. We continue to get compliments from people about how much they love the architectural design of our home and how it really suites the character of our neighbourhood. We hired Blackwell Architecture Inc. as architects for an extensive renovation of our older home. We worked closely with the principal, Shawn Blackwell, to reconfigure over 3000 sq. of space. Shawn was very good to work with. His easy manner and strong listening skills enabled him to understand our requirements, and he came up with a very livable design which continues to work well as our family has grown from being a couple to one with 3 small children. Not only was Shawn involved in the design - he was also present onsite during the renovation process, representing our interests when dealing with the contractor and subtrades. He also made sure that his vision was followed through, as design questions came up during construction. Shawn's personality and professionalism ensured that he was respected by the contractor and the construction crew, and we found the whole renovation process stress-free and enjoyable. Shawn was recommended to me through an interior designer. After I had my first meeting with Shawn I felt very comfortable and at ease with him, confident he would meet our goals. We are building two higher end spec homes with ocean views in White Rock. We wanted unique designs but not out there, certainly not the typical hillside box homes either. Our lots were small, compact and difficult to utilize but Shawn had great vision to give us great floor space, taking full advantage of the views and beautiful exterior designs. He was fantastic to work with, listened to our needs made changes as requested or fought for ideas he felt strong about exactly what I would expect from a professional. We are still early in construction but I am confident Shawn will be with us to completion and I would highlty recommend this talented and versatile Architect.
