Adapt Architecture is a full service architecture firm with a specialty in older homes. Our mission is to help the homeowner improve the layout for more modern living while maintaining the character of the original house. We don't have a particular "style" but prefer to respond to the architecture and character of the house, incorporating the homeowner's function and style in a way that is classic and timeless. Our work spans from the smallest bath remodel or porch addition to the larger addition or whole house remodel. We are strong believers in a Master Plan to figure out a road map of where you want to go with your home. But most importantly, when you are done, we want you to love your space and feel as if we were never there...and maybe to have added something that you never thought you could have!

We liked Anne immediately. She is easy to work with, a good communicator, great sense of design and style, and was really wonderful at understanding the vibe we were trying to create and helped point us toward something we absolutely loved! I can't imagine doing our remodel without Anne.

This was our first time working with an architect and we had an exceptional experience with Anne at ADAPT Architecture. We hired ADAPT to renovate our unfinished basement into: a laundry/storage room, wine cellar, 3/4 bath and a game room/family room. With our initial drawings, Anne gave us an option completely outside of the box that nailed exactly what we were looking for. Once construction began, Anne worked seamlessly with the contractor and our interior designer, met all the deadlines and stayed within budget. Anne was truly invested in the project and when hard decisions had to made or something didn't seem right, Anne was there to ask right questions and advocate for our needs and happiness. We loved her kindness, thoughtful ideas and her beautiful and classic taste. After 5 months of construction, we got a bright, beautiful and unique basement that was way beyond our expectations!

Anne's architectural drawings have always been very well detailed, thorough and clear, which are a huge benefit to those of us who rely on them for our designs. She is also very amiable and easy to work with, and by all accounts her finished work and customer service are excellent. ADAPT worked with me on my redesign and remodel of my kitchen. Anne is terrific - she's a great listener and able to turn what she hears into great design solutions. In addition, she was a key resource in selecting appliances (focusing on functionality and appearance rather than brands saved me a lot of $), managing the project, working with the builder, cabinet makers etc. Note: her careful review of cabinet maker drawings saved me time and $ !! I love my new kitchen. It's aesthetically just what I wanted and extremely functional as well. I'd recommend her without reservation --

We feel so incredibly fortunate to have had ADAPT Architecture's expertise throughout the process of remodeling our kitchen, adding a mud room to our home, and remodeling two bathrooms. Anne was so on point in how thoughtfully she integrated features from our 1917 Dutch Colonial home into the remodeled kitchen, so it feels like a part of the home, even though modern by comparison. In addition to having an excellent feel for the layout and flow that would work best for our family, her artistic eye is highly skilled, and all our fixtures and colors and counters work so well within the space that they often get called out when people enter the space for the first time. Anne was so professional and thoughtful throughout the whole process; I am so grateful she was recommended to us. We would work with ADAPT Architecture again and again!

Words can't describe how much we loved working with Anne. Hiring her was the best money we ever spent during our remodel. She was able to achieve what we (and others) thought was impossible. As well as being a fantastic and creative problem solver with a great respect for period appropriate details, Anne always stayed cool, calm and positive, no matter what we threw at her.

We hired Anne to design our 1950s bathroom. It was a decent sized room, but had NEVER been updated. Anne completely redesigned the space making it functional, light-filled (sooo important in Seattle) and gorgeous. She recommended finishes, colors, and products to enhance the space. She was always available for questions from me or the contractor. We hired her immediately following our bathroom remodel for our kitchen remodel. Again, she was thoughtful and came up with wonderful ways to increase counter space and functionality while opening up the space and staying true to the age of the home. I can't recommend her highly enough! I am also a realtor and now recommend her with regularity to my clients whether it's for a minor remodel, extensive remodel, or a master house plan.

We hired Anne to design a covered front porch addition to our 2-story house. We were very worried that the addition could look tacked on and not fit with the architecture of the house, but she really listened to our priorities and came up with a design that worked perfectly. We couldn't be happier with the results . The porch has become a centerpiece of the house and the whole family loves it. Anne was a pleasure to work with and a real professional.

"Building in a region where most lake homes are very similar, Anne was instrumental in helping us realize our vision for a custom home that fit our surroundings and expressed our personal taste. From the initial talks and site visit, to the foundation pouring, framing, and interior work to the landscaping Anne listened to our priorities and concerns, mindful of our budget and creatively, designing a beautiful home our family will enjoy for generations. Her work was always thorough, mindful of our design direction, and paid great attention to details ranging from fixtures to functionality. We really appreciated her experience and ethically pleasing design with our tastes in mind.

We recently completed a beautiful kitchen project with Anne Scott of ADAPT Architecture. Everyone at our firm loved working with her. She is a great collaborator, and an even better architect. She was always available to problem solve and work through details. In the end she designed something that delighted the homeowner, was really fun to build, and is a great space to be in.

Anne designed the remodel of our kitchen in our 1927 tudor home, which was a fairly major project, involving taking down walls, changing the exterior envelope and windows, and completely redoing the electrical and plumbing. We were very impressed by Anne's design expertise and guidance (both as an architect and as a designer) throughout the process, and appreciated her careful attention to detail as well as her ability to design a kitchen containing all of the modern elements we wanted while respecting the traditional architecture of our home. We truly enjoyed working with Anne during the design and construction process, and highly recommend Adapt Architecture for any home remodel or renovation, particularly for a historic house.
