1128 Arch Design

1128 Arch Design did an excellent job with our Master Bedroom Suite addition (Bedroom/ Full Bathroom/ Office). Listened well to what we were looking for and came up with a plan that well-suited our needs. Incorporated materials that gave a natural flow to the existing house making it look like the addition was part of the original house. We have received numerous compliments on the beauty and uniqueness of our addition.

Todd did an amazing job not only designing my lower level but understanding how I intended to visualize it when completed. He produced not only detail drawings but renderings that caught every detail which immolated the final work.

Todd Ovard of 1128 Arch Design has been working with us on our home's renovation. We have a 1950s tri-level which we are working to update completely--kitchen, living and dining rooms, bathrooms, family room, etc. This includes opening up the main level floor plan as well as bringing the exterior views in with the addition of French Doors, side lights, and larger windows. He is guiding us through the kitchen remodeling to keep the style consistent with the overall style of the home while working within our budget. He is giving us advice on trim, window and door styles throughout the house, along with fireplace detailing, overall color and material selection, and aesthetic touches throughout the interior to tie the changes together while staying true to the style of the home. Important to us are views of the outside from the interior. Todd has shared creative landscaping and patio ideas to improve upon our initial plans. He has been easy to work with, available to us as we've needed him, flexible to our changing needs, and helping to keep us on track with deadlines and our budget.

We built our traditional/contemporary home 28 years ago. Since we became empty nesters we decided that our open concept kitchen/dining/living space needed to be repurposed to fit our changing life style. We chose Todd Ovard / 1128 Arch Design from the Houzz web site. Pictures of his work reflected a simple clean design that conformed to our "minimalist " nature. Todd's initial visit set the stage for a design process that placed an importance on our input and total satisfaction while providing a design that integrated some of the characteristics of our home that were special to us. Todd's work with the cabinet makers to blend the design, wood, and finish to conform to our original cabinets was key to this project. The cabinet design is actually Todd's second design after we changed our original plan of a 7 ft tall triangular cabinet. Once the original triangular cabinets were demoed we opted for a more open concept. Todd then designed a counter level cabinet. Family and friends have complimented us on the design and function of this project and also commented that Todd's design blended so well with the original design. The project addressed the following areas: Demo two triangular columns that consumed approximately 40 sq ft of space that obstructed light and traffic patterns. Replace with a waste high island with strorage drawers, including a charging station, and column enclosing a weight bearing post. Replace a single door leading onto the rear deck with a sliding patio door to redirect traffic and allow for a sitting area. Replace and relocate the double casement widows to view wooded area from the repurposed sitting / reading area. This project took longer than we anticipated due to weather and the electrical contractor but it was well worth it. We love our new living space.

Todd was the architech for our large home renovation and addition project. The scope of the project included adding on to our exsisting home: a full basement, first floor living room, first floor full bathroom, mud room, and washer and dryer room. The second floor included master bedroom and bath. Todd was extremly accomodating with all levels of design and build, acting also as our project manager. This included communication and coordination with all other constuction team members. He was consistantly available to my husband and I to answer questions, and research affordable options of all aspects of design to meet our budget.

We hired 1128 Arch Design to plan a second story addition above my garage. As a structural engineer myself, I had some idea what I wanted from Todd when we started, but his understanding of the aesthetics of the front of the home, and his design talent was what made the addition look fantastic!! He managed to bring character and some pop to the front elevation, but yet the addition blends in as though it was part of the original home. When I had to make some aesthetic decisions during construction he took extra time, came out in person, and looked it over with me. I learned that I could trust Todd's opinion and greatly valued his ideas. Todd is a person of high character who will get the result you are looking for.
