Karl designed the plans for our whole house remodel, that included adding square footage to the existing foundation, and adding a second story. I gave Karl a "wish list" for my dream house, never expecting that he would be able to incorporate everything into the plans since we were working with a pre-existing structure. But Karl delivered -- and then some -- well exceeding my wildest expectations. The result: I am living in my dream house, and I absolutely love everything. Karl took the time to incorporate special details and unique features that give the house character. He listened to the ideas of both me and my husband, yet he also provided helpful ideas and suggestions. In addition, his drawings were thorough -- many of our subcontractors remarked on the helpfulness of his attention to detail. Beyond providing us with an amazing design, Karl was a huge help to me throughout the long construction phase. He would stop by to check on the progress, and I called him several times to help me with design dilemmas. He was quick to answer e-mails and phone calls. When it was time to finalize the custom cabinetry, Karl responded to my SOS call and spent an afternoon with the carpentry team working out the details and design. Karl is a true Southern gentleman, and a first class architect. I would give him more than 5 stars if I could! So needless to say, I highly, highly recommend his work!

Karl has designed two custom homes for us with two different custom home builders in The Woodlands. The first was completed in 2007 and our 2nd was completed in 2017. My husband and I enjoy working with Karl because he has always listened to our specific needs, has integrity and is trustworthy. He does not nickel and dime you to death or blow your budget, as many of our friends have experienced with other architects. He is creative, talented, pays close attention to the details, such as our likes and dislikes, historical and architectural design, our lifestyle and multiple uses of each area of our home. Karl came out to the site many times during the building process to check on the progress or guide a trade to make sure the work followed the plan or if we made slight changes to the plan along the way, such as moving a door opening. You can tell that Karl is a true professional that loves what he does, wants his clients to be happy and follows through until the end to make sure that happens. Of all the many trades that worked on our project, Karl was one of the only ones that kept their word, stayed within our agreed budget, finished his work in the time promised, proactively followed up on the project, took great care and pride in his work, and actually looked out for the benefit of his clients. We have worked with Karl for more than 10 years now and consider him and his wife Julie our friends. We love our new home, he designed EXACTLY what we had in mind! Karl is very accommodating of your design needs. He offers suggestions to fit into the design plan and truly listens if you have any concerns. We like that he is very talented, yet unpretentious and has an agreeable personality.
