This company is FANTASTIC !!! For background information, we had our cabinetry refaced and re-finished a few years ago when we remodeled our home. We were so upset when the finishing on ALL cabinets started to "flake off". After looking around for recommendations, "Ray of Light" Artistic Design kept surfacing. We contacted "Ray of Light" and had Mina come out to our home and give us an estimate. Mina was professional and gave a great description of what to expect during the process of having our cabinets and drawers sanded and refinished. Mina set us up with future dates that her crew would be available to start our project and we contracted their services. We have been SO pleased with the entire process of this project !!! The crew is BEYOND respectful of our home. They covered all surfaces in rooms that they were sanding in, and moved all furniture to spaces in the house that would not be affected by the sanding. They worked in our home for 10 days, and were SO polite and always inquired if they had any issues !!! Truly talented and wonderful artisans !!! Our cabinets are BEAUTIFUL and we couldn't be happier !!!! Ray of Light Artistic Design is by FAR the only company you will want to refinish your cabinets !!!! Ray of Light refinished all of the cabinets throughout my whole house. Interviewed several other highly rated companies, but chose Ray of Light because I felt they would do the best job at what I wanted to achieve. Ray and Mina worked with me and made suggestions as to what stains would look the best in my home. Was extremely pleased when work was completed. My cabinets look brand new and are beautiful.The whole crew from Ray of Light are a pleasure to work with. Polite, courteous, on time every day, and aim to please. Have already referred Ray of Light to several acquaintances that are looking at refinishing their cabinetry in the future.

When we moved into our house three years ago, we had Ray of Light refinish all of the wooden cabinets, with the exception of the kitchen where we only refinished the island. The kitchen we inherited from the prior owner would not have been our first choice, but had recently been remodeled with new appliances, cabinetry and granite countertops. We then lived with it and came to appreciate the efficiency of the layout and the quality of the woodwork. However, we did not like the finish on the cabinets nor the classical Tuscan styling. We liked the color in the granitic countertops, but found it difficult to come up the the right color choice for the cabinetry which would bring out the best color tones of the granite. Ray helped us to contemporize the design (eg. removing dental molding and replacing some of the cabinet doors), pick the sage color and finalize the choices of which color and stain should go on which cabinets. The result was transformative--we feel like we have a brand new kitchen! In an era of HGTV--"have it all now, change everything"--we believe we were good stewards by working with what was already almost new and spending about 20% of what it would have cost to build out a new kitchen. The other positive is that the project was on time, on budget with minimal muss or fuss.

Rey, Mina and the crew were fantastic. Mina came to the house to do the estimate for my cabinets. I showed her the color of the ceiling fan as the concept color. They were able to strip and restain my red toned maple cabinets to a gray tone and not lose the look of the fine grained wood which was my preference. I did have them paint the master bath cabinets a brilliant white and they came out perfect. Ray of Light plans well, communicates well and worked well with the other contractors in the house to keep all efforts going simultaneously. I really appreciate the high quality product, professionalism and highly recommend them.

I decided to refinish my kitchen cabinets and stair railing (all solid oak) and was referred to Ray of Light by my kitchen designer. I am beyond happy with the results. The Ray of Light team from design through the refinish process were true professionals. They were on time, extremely careful and meticulous (the plastic sheeting protection in my kitchen and living room was beyond expectations), and the final product has already garnered compliments from friends about how good everything looks. I can't say enough about Ray of Light! It may not be the least expensive, but it is definitely worth it! The craftsmanship and professionalism of the entire team made this messy process much easier. The attention to detail was phenomenal. We went from orange-ish oak cabinets to a cream color and it looks fantastic! The team worked with me on the perfect shade of cream to work with my granite, new tile wood floors, and back splash. The painting process ensures a smooth hard finish that will last!!! I would highly recommend them!

We recently hired Ray of Light to update our kitchen and 3 separate bathroom cabinets, add crown molding through the entire kitchen, carpentry work to our kitchen island, match the stair banister to the cabinets. However, we found ourselves in a re-model pickle where we really needed professional counsel. Fortunately, Ray’s incredible sense of color and design saved the day. He came up with a beautiful, unique kitchen cabinet stain which was expertly applied over a difficult bamboo surface that now makes us smile every time we enter the home. Ray of Light Artistic Design painted all of the cabinets in my house. From a knotty Alder to a smooth cream color finish with detail. The job was HUGE! From the beginning, Ray gave me a schedule of what they would be doing and when. They stuck to it. His team came in and masked off all areas in a way that was respectful to all of our furniture, us, and the house. They cared for my house like it was their own. They did exactly what they said they would do in a caring and respectful way and when they were done, our cabinets were incredible!!!! I can not believe how awesome they look. Unbelievable professional skills; the highest ethics; long-time employees - but that's what you'd expect from a AAA+ Better Business Bureau company. But let me explain what makes R.O.L. a cut above. It's their compassion; it's that they LISTEN and VALUE you. We were brand-new AZ residents. Our Home Inspector told us, "For remodeling help, you need to call "Rosie On The House" (local home professional expert and radio-personality). Rosie called me back himself to say, "Theres only one name you need to call, Ray Hernandez ("Ray Of Light"). BOY - what an introduction. Ray (and his Assistant, Sonya) came to my home - and treated me like treasured family. His Office Manager (and his lovely bride Mina) has conducted our every communication like that "kind and competent friend" you WISH you had "in the industry". We contracted for both Cabinet Resurfacing and whole-house interior paint. Ray's Crew arrived every single day on time; were respectful of our home and neighborhood and prepped our house like a science experiment!!! (Example taping the outside and INSIDE of our Dishwasher to protect from dust.) Ray's prices are phenomenal and the quality unsurpassed. Our home is beautiful and we got more than we bargained for. We had significant water damage on the wood-facing of our peninsula due to a leak of our dishwasher. Ray's staff took a sample of the wood stain and was able to duplicate it. They then refinished all the damaged areas. The professionalism of the staff, the speed in which they were able to complete the project, and the quality of the work exceeded all our expectations. I wanted to give my kitchen a fresh updated look and decided to refinish my cabinets from brown stain to white.. I interviewed 4 companies and chose Ray of Light for many reasons, but most of all, because they strip the cupboards down to the bear wood prior to putting on the finish. In addition, they took time to get the color just right. Ray also offered suggestions on adding trim to make the cupboards look custom and high end. I put my house on the market shortly after and it sold in 7 days---. We are now ready to buy another home and I will be using Ray of Light again to refinish my cabinets!

I am very pleased to write a review for Ray of Light Artistic Design, as Ray and his team produced a wonderful product and great value for us. We purchased a twenty year old house that needed significant updating, however, the prior owner had just dropped a bundle on a new kitchen, which we did not like all that much. In addition, a shoddy job had been done on the six bathroom vanities in the house, along with a small kitchinette in the guest quarters. We had read about Ray a couple of years ago when his business was featured in the Arizona Republic and so we contacted him through his office Manager, Mina. She did an excellent job of providing background information on the array of services they offer and handling some tricky scheduling challenges because of Ray's and my busy schedules. Ray came to our house, provided insight into the surface treatments that had been done in the past, and recommending what some of the best options would be for us. He is a Picasso with a carpenter's tool kit, and one immediately senses his passion for the work he does. He worked very well with our design consultant on picking out the right stain, and we moved forward changing the stain on the kitchen island and every fixed piece of cabinetry in the house. They established a reasonable schedule, and finished the project on time and on budget, in spite of some challenges caused by other trades not meeting their deadlines. Throughout the process, Ray's whole team exhibited the same passion as Ray and interacted with my wife and me in a most positive, professional and couteous way. When the pieces were returned from the shop, the vanity boxes stripped and refinished on the job site, we were absolutely amazed with the quality of the work. The cabinets looked brand new, and we believe for a price that was less than half of what new cabinets would have cost. So in summary, a great experience.

Ray and his team are phenomenal! After having them in my house for a week, I can honestly say they are ALL professional, personable, incredibly neat, punctual and gifted artisans. Ray and his team refinished all of the cabinets in our house, turned our kitchen island into a beautiful focal point, and refinished an entertainment center and fireplace mantle.. All of his employees that we interacted with were very professional and helpful and treated our house like it was there's. Ray recently refinished the cabinets in our kitchen, master bath, guest bath, laundry room and butler's pantry. He also refinished our kitchen table and desk. Everything is beautiful! Ray and his team have created some of the work beautiful artwork on the walls of my home. They are the best at what they do and I would not call anyone else. Our kitchen cabinets were stripped and re-stained, cabinets in 2 bathrooms were stripped and repainted, and a custom wrap was made to give the lower outside counter wall a finished furniture look. Ray, Adam, Danny, and the guys in the shop did a fantastic job and we couldn't be happier! The Ray Of Light team arrived early everyday. They made sure everything was taped off, tented off, and protective paper and plastic put over everything as well as the floor. Very nice and pleasant guys who never seemed bothered by all my questions and need for artistic advice. Ray was extremely helpful making sure our cabinets were stained exactly to the color we wanted and made many helpful suggestions! The 3 1/2 day project turned out fantastic. The finish on our 17 year old cabinets looks 100% better than the finish on the new cabinets at the home improvement stores. The guys did and excellent job toning down the grain in the oak cabinets. The heavy grain of the oak no longer jumps out at us. Love oak but wanted out of the 90s. They now look new, modern, beautiful, and custom made. The artistic group at Ray Of Light really know their craft, and I will continue to use them for future projects!!!

We couldn't be more pleased with our kitchen. Ray of Light did an excellent job designing and building new features around our island, refinishing our cupboards with beautifully created lacquered colors and adding crown molding to spark up the appearance of what was very humdrum. At their suggestion Ray of Light also lacquered our baseboards to match our new flooring and it looks just great; a very significant finishing touch. Ray of Light staff are very creative people. They all pitch in on the planning, the testing of colors, preparation and follow through. They even come back to your house to advise you when questions arise. Professional. Dependable, Creative. Superior workmanship. Obviously, I would recommend them to anyone.

We had Ray and his team come to our house for several different projects and have been very happy with all of them. Firstly, we had Ray of Light faux finish our walls and ceilings with a glaze that made the house look very warm and elegant. Secondly, Ray of Light made our powder room stunning with Venetian plaster. Thirdly, Ray worked on our concrete fireplace, kitchen hood and wall to make them look 200% better. Finally, Ray of Light has come back to help us with remodeling changes and touch ups with incredible skill and great attention to detail and overall feel of the space. We hired Ray of Light Artistic Design to paint our entire interior of our Brand New home. To say that he painted the inside of our home would be an insult to Ray and his group. Properly stated I would say he artistically designed a vision of beauty for our interior that far exceeded our highest expectations. We wanted something more than just white walls or some bland colors, we wanted the interior to be tastefully done, but also that had a "wow" factor. Let me just say that Ray of Light delivered on those expectations. We have a small kitchen and Ray of Light did a cabinet paint/stain redo for us! It was so beautifully done in a very timely manner. As a design firm we work with many different trades. Ray of Light is not only professional but timely and has a great quality product. We designed and managed a remodel project and worked with Ray of Light to have all of the kitchen, bathroom and laundry cabinets painted from a dated stained finish to a new white painted finish. The paint is so smooth you would never know the cabinets weren't right out of the factory. Painting cabinetry is definitely a specialty an this is one of the best results we have seen. Ray refinished 25 interior doors and door frames. Most of the doors were done in his shop. Plenty of time was spent putting protective coverings on my walls and furnishings to provide protection during the door frame refinishing which happened in the house. All work was done in a timely manner and the finished results were beautiful. I highly recommend Ray of Light.

I highly recommend Ray of Light Artistic Design for any interior design/makeover/restoration. Foremost, Ray is an acute listener and pays close attention to both your aesthetic goals as well as your constraints (cost / schedule) and makes experienced recommendations to meet both. He took the time to walk through the options and explain the pros/cons of each which provided me with a much better perspective on how to proceed. On my project, he executed flawlessly and worked well with other contractors that were in the home at the same time. If items were going to come in late, he let me know ahead of time and provided options to stay on schedule/cost. He performed venetian plaster on four 18ft concrete columns in my foyer and made them look like they were carved from onyx (see pics below). Everyone that walks into the home asks about them. He also performed cabinet staining for a wet bar and cabinet restoration for the kitchen and they came out amazing. I will hire Ray again to perform work on my new home, once this home sells.

I wanted a furnisher finish and Ray of Light was the only one who didn't use a brush on the finish. I was very impressed with the attention to detail while prepping my cabinets. Then the finish blew me away. It was perfect, just like i hoped it would be. Ray and his crew were very professional. They answered all my questions, told me what they were doing next and when the job would be finished. They finished on time and the clean up was spotless. I can't say enough about Ray of Light. The cost of the job was very reasonable. The finish was the best i could hope for. I have some furnisher that needs to be refinish and Ray of Light will be who i call. If you want attention to detail, cost and a perfect job, call Ray. Nobody will do a better job then Ray.

We interviewed several companies to refinish all the cabinets in our house - going from clear maple to a custom, rich dark red mahogany. My husband is extremely knowledgeable in wood refinishing and he selected Ray of Light quickly after the interview. Ray and his skilled staff know their stuff and were a JOY to work with. They stayed on task, showed up on schedule, were as neat and clean as possible and sought perfection throughout the project. And they were also the most reasonably priced! "Ray of Light" painted the interior of my home a few years ago. A large wall was done with a faux finish. It turned out very well. Everything they did was done with attention to detail. Ray of Light came in and changed our cabinets from light to dark and put knobs on the doors. They also provided design advice about the kitchen island. They took our kitchen from the early 90s to modern times in just a few days. We love the way our kitchen looks now. It makes me happy every time I walk in the room. How many things about the kitchen bring a smile to your face? We felt that the price was reasonable and that the quality of the work was impressive. We would definitely hire them to do other jobs.

Beautiful job...very respectful. He does wall murals, and cabinet staining, stair rail staining, paints with quality paint inside and out. I have not tried the murals, yet, but I can't say enough about what an excellent job they did and would highly recommend!!!
