With over 15 years of experience in furniture and cabinetry, we provide heirloom quality workmanship with a story that will continue as part of yours. In need of a handmade desk to write your next book, dining table for family to gather around, cabinets for your dream kitchen or a home library for quiet reading? Look no further! Beginning as a young man in his father's backyard workshop, Jonathan Wells, the Owner and Lead Craftsman, developed a love of woodworking. This passion evolved through working in general carpentry, trim carpentry, furniture shops and in several residential and commercial cabinet shops until culminating in Oak Grove Furniture & Cabinetry in 2007. Since then Jonathan has continually improved his skill-set and design sense partnering with you to bring your dreams and ideas to life. Our name comes from a long Family tradition. Oak Grove Farm in Union County, NC was built by Jonathan's Great Grandfather where he raised chickens and sold their eggs. His Grandfather "Pawpaw" Rushing looked out over the land beside the chicken houses at the beauty of the large stand of mature oak trees, and named their home "Oak Grove Farm".

Jonathan worked with us to build a "cloffice" space in our family room. He was so easy to work with, getting our plans adjusted and perfected super quickly. Our cabinets were ready on time and we couldn't be happier with the final product. It's an absolutely perfect space. The quality of the workmanship and the attention to detail are impeccable.

I had been working from home since mid-March in a small downtown condo. I desperately needed to get my computer, monitors and other work stuff off of my kitchen island but had very limited options on where to build a home office space. Jonathan was inspired by the challenge and worked with me to design a cabinet that would close up when I was done with work but offered a generous work space and tremendous amounts of extra storage. His attention to detail was amazing and his commitment to create a high-quality custom piece was evident. He also did all of this at an affordable price! It was clearly important to him that I was pleased with the final piece - and I am - I couldn’t be happier with what he created for me! Most importantly, he remained in contact during the build process, responding quickly to emails and even returned phone calls in a timely manner. This was so important and speaks highly of his dedication. I highly recommend Jonathan!

We were so impressed with the quality of our cabinets. We could not be happier with the cabinets for our kitchen, they were exactly what we wanted and Oak Grove went above and beyond to make sure the install and final product was perfect!

It was an awesome experience working with Jonathan Wells! I’m in the process of building my first woodworking project - a platform bed with 6 drawers. I needed a little help to plane and cut a footboard because I lack the equipment. Jonathan responded promptly. After a few emails, I still wasn’t quite sure what to expect. Any reservations I had disappeared within the first 5 mins of meeting him. Not only did he plane and edge my piece on a Friday after he had worked all day, but he refused any payment. Saying, “Someone helped me when I needed it, so I’m happy I could help!” This tells me a lot about his character. In conversation, he shared many little tips that I will use to complete my project. Along with his obvious character and his vast knowledge, taking a look at the current projects in his shop proves that he is a master craftsman as well. Like I found, I’m positive that Jonathan and Oak Grove Furniture and Cabinetry would exceed all of your expectations.

I hired Oak Grove to do a custom floor-to-ceiling bookshelf with cubbies on two of four walls in my library. They did an amazing job! Beautiful maple, done very quickly and professionally. I'm saving up to get the other wall done.

Collaborative Design Workshop

As an architect, I have the opportunity to work with a broad client base and a wide range of craftspeople.
