Modern Constructs is the Northern Virginia design studio for Poggenpohl Kitchens. We work closely with our clients and incorporate their vision and specific needs into architecture and design. Our services include a complete design-build process which is comprised of material and appliance selection, counter-top specification, and installation. Michael Cook trained as an architect in Southern California from 1991 – 2000. Michael studied architecture at SCI-Arc (Southern California Institute of Architecture) from 1991 – 1995, receiving his Master of Architecture degree. After graduating from SCI-Arc, Michael gained experience and training in some of California’s most sought after, world renowned firms, such as Frederick Fisher and Partners, Hak Sik Son, FAIA, and Frank Gehry and Partners. The expertise and design sensibility Michael was exposed to at these firms is present in all of his work. Michael is currently a licensed architect practicing architecture in both Falls Church, Virginia and Venice, California. He is a principal of Cook Architecture, an award winning firm whose work includes a wide array of building types: religious facilities, schools, commercial interiors and modern homes. Many of Cook Architecture’s current residential projects focus on new creating innovative spaces. Utilizing adaptive reuse strategies, Michael creates uniquely modern houses from traditional suburban homes. Material selection, expert craft in adaptive reuse, and sustainable design strategies enable Michael to create healthy, energy efficient, and boldly modern homes, perfectly suited for our contemporary world.
