People constantly say to me: “I honestly don’t know how you can enjoy painting. I tried it and I absolutely HATE it!” And then I laugh and say, “I did too the first few years I did it.” It’s true, as with most skilled trades, painting can be very challenging. And it’s taken a while for me to be proficient and skilled at painting. But as Ben Franklin said: “Energy and persistence conquer all things.” (Including painting) There are a lot of trade secrets that you learn either by working with someone who knows how to paint, or by learning them on your own. I have found that by following a few basic steps, painting can be as easy as baking a cake. Well, maybe not that easy, but close. (I’m not a good cook needless to say) Regardless, as I mentioned, there are few key factors to keep in mind: Know the product you are using, know its’ limits, and prepare the substrate (the surface you are painting) properly. “It’s better to have an ounce of forethought, than a pound of action after the damage has been done.” -Unknown Author
