Chris VanGeison built our Sea Pines family oceanfront home in 2013. During the year+ that the house was under construction, I would talk with Chris virtually every day on the phone. We would discuss the daily details on our project and I could always count on Chris to take the most professional approach to whatever issue presented itself. Chris never made a decision on how he could save money, but rather how he could make this house better. When we are in residence, there isn't a week that goes by that someone doesn't compliment us on having the best looking home on the beach. When we are not in residence, I can always count on Chris to handle ANY issue that might come up from protecting our house due to an impending hurricane to fixing anything that is in need of repair. Several years after the project has been completed, I can still count on Chris to answer his cell phone or call me back within the hour whenever I leave him a message. Chris Van Geison Construction is one of the top contractors in the Hilton Head area. I chose him after many meetings with him and his staff and a due diligence exercise. He provided me with a list of previous customers and I reached out to each of them for a referral. The scope of my project was a "cottage" compared to the size of home that he traditionally builds. Chris was willing to work with us to ensure that we were "more" than satisfied with the final result. He designed aspects of our house on the site and worked directly with our architect and designers to reach our desired outcome. Chris made sure that finishes were selected within our budget. He was willing to work with us knowing that we were going to be financing the home and working with the bank and assessors with information they needed to provide draws when needed. The attention to detail is something that people refer to when they visit my home. He puts his own character on the project that is noticed by others that visit. He manages his subcontractors and holds them to very high standards. He employs the best of the trade because they want to work for him because he pays them regularly. The warranty and first-year walk through was fine. Things that were pointed out were fixed in a timely manner and he has been willing to refer us to other professionals when we have had additional need over the past 5 years. We have recommended Chris to two neighbors in our neighborhood and one has used him for a full build and the other has used him for extensive renovations and an addition to her home. He aims to please his customers. He is very available when you call and will return your calls promptly. He was at our home every day during the build traveling between Hilton Head, where he had a project at the same time and our home. We were on the construction site every day and he was here to see us everyday, When there wasn't a subcontractor here, I wanted to know why.
