It’s been 2 years since Mass Constructions completed our major renovation. Every time I’ve called them since, I am reminded what an absolute pleasure it was working with Tim McRae and his foreman Dave Huglin. Both Tim and Dave are extremely knowledgeable and competent in their fields and employ staff and contractors of equal expertise. They are also both excellent communicators throughout the project. Tim especially, employed clever resolutions when problems occurred (as they always do in a renovation); often saving us thousands of dollars compared to the ideas put forth by our designer. I can say without hesitation that their honesty, integrity and patience is of the utmost in the field. I would not hesitate to use Mass Constructions again, and would tell anyone considering hiring Mass to grab the opportunity to work with this team.

I engaged Tim and the team for a major renovation of my house in Balaclava. This was a near total rebuild adding a second storey. I was more than happy with how the project went from start to finish. Tim provided a detailed quote, communicated well throughout with regular site meeting and sticking to the agreed budget/quote. Despite some challenging circumstances with difficult neighbours he remained calm and reassuring. I felt in good hands. His entire team provided quality workmanship. Out of all house builds we have done (4 in all) Tim and Mass Constructions were the best. It really came down to trust....in quality, price, and after-care. We looked at about 10 builders before meeting with Mass Constructions and within minutes of meeting Tim, I knew we would be going with them. Quality - Tim is on the tools and led the team by example...getting stuck into all aspect of the build. Framing, caulking, tiling, shoveling dirt etc....We are experienced in home builds and seeing Tim instilled confidence in the quality of the build. Cost - we had a detailed breakdown of every aspect of the build and Mass use construction management software that made it even easier for us as clients to make selections and see the pricing impact of various choices. We had a set budget and we came in slightly under budget. We were VERY clear about what we were prepared to spend and Tim and the team always gave us options to help. Example - Tim came up with structural engineering and design solutions that were better and cheaper than were specified by the engineers we had engaged separately. Tim was looking after our commercial interests. Our project delivered on time aswell hence costs associated with Delays. After-care - I have to say, we have not had much requiring Tim to come back for - but where we did, it was never an issue. We have not had to shell out any cash for anything and it was done with no fuss. If I had to do anything differently, I would engage Tim earlier in the design process. In our case we wanted to go with a specific architect (who was great), but I would engage Tim as part of the Detailed Design process -along with Architects - so as to bring the depth of Build knowledge into the Design process. (Our initial structural engineering proved to drive higher cost than required - Tim's perspective addressed unnecessary cost overruns). I have since recommended Tim and Mass Constructions to many friends.
