Taken the road less traveled? As in the road that quality builders don't take is more like it. The townhomes in Brookside Meadows in Tinley Park, IL are poorly crafted, built way too fast (contractors here 7 days a week, holidays, and through storms and snow). They are put up so fast that the quality is below poor. Inadequate is a better description. The floors in the home are not level and visible! Flooring is not screwed to the joists so they creak something terrible. Woodwork is not properly finished. In many areas the wood is not sanded and bare cut wood and missing paint and NO caulk or filler for nail holes. Painting is less than desirable-missing spots all over and thin in many areas; paint drips all over and stain from hardwood flooring and the staircase is all over the woodwork. But the most disappointing of all is the safety concerns. This builder (doesn't qualify as a builder in my opinion), attached 2 story decks to the homes here and they are not attached or bolted to the footings! If they cut the wood too short, they caulked it. Yes, you read that right, they caulked it. The posts holding our decks up actually move. Our stairs creek and you can hear the nails popping when you walk on them. The pain is already chipping off the deck and it's less than 1 year old. Wood is not sanded-raw cuts so you get splinters and cut your hands on them. Driveways are cement and they did not use rebar or mesh so they rise if water gets under them and freezes. ALL of our basements are getting seepage or flooding and what did Frank Jr do? He walked around with a caulk gun and caulked the back of the houses. We are now involving the Village of Tinley Park in this ordeal. The construction was supposed to be inspected and approved......Now this builder who "takes the road less traveled" will be moving onto his next project soon, leaving the homeowners to fend for themselves. Buyer Beware!
