We contacted Douglas on the referral of neighbors. While we had an idea of a specific project, he took a holistic approach, sat with us, spoke with us and inquired what we liked and disliked about our home. He listened and came back with excellent recommendations regarding any of the short-comings of our home in our eyes. We embarked on a project of doing a significant makeover and our 77 year old home feels and looks brand new. His vision was spot on. He increased the functionality, flow, and appeal of our home. The recommendations he had for suppliers were excellent. No detail was too small for him to be concerned about. He is easy to work with, pleasant, and has a gift for proportion as well as design. I am an interior designer who was brought onboard by my client to work with Douglas McClure, who was the architect for her home's many-faceted renovation. When I first saw it, the home down to the studs, and the changes and ideas that Douglas incorporated totally resonated with my own aesthetics. And, when he and I met, it was as though we'd been collaborating for years, and, as I told him, we were absolutely on the same design wavelength. It was almost that if one of us started a design idea, the other of us finished the sentence. That is rare in our respective businesses and makes it so much easier for the client.. Douglas is innovative, comprehensive and wonderful to work with. I'm searching for another project where we can work together hopefully soon.

Douglas is amazing. We did a renovation/addition to a 1927 house to add a kitchen and master suite, rework the entire flow of the house, and redo 3 bathrooms. Douglas took the time to understand our goals and designed an amazing floor plan that surpassed our dreams – thinking of details that we didn’t even know we wanted (but we do!). He then went to all the different village board meetings to advocate for us brilliantly and get it all approved. He went with us for multiple visits to showrooms and helped us pick out tile, finishes, fixtures, etc. He has a tremendous eye and a great style! He understood our aesthetic and helped us pick things that go well together and that we love. Douglas then oversaw the construction process – getting bids, overseeing the GC, finding additional vendors, and resolving all of the issues that inevitably arise in a project of this scale. He was able to guide us through the stressful and hectic moments. On top of that, he’s just a great person and it was very fun to do this project with him. He is a full service firm -- architect, designer, advocate, project manager, advisor, etc. Highest recommendation!

Have known Douglas for almost two decades and have had the pleasure of working with him on vast amounts of projects over the years in both Westchester County and Manhattan. Douglas is detailed, thorough, creative and has a passion and keen eye with each tailored to project. Each space is always individualized to bring the client's vision to fruition. Douglas designed a bathroom for the attic of my 1910 home. I enjoyed working with him because he put a priority on listening to what my family wanted and needed, and was mindful of our budget. He has a deep knowledge of building codes and regulations, including how historical information can be relevant. Because of this knowledge, he knew and shared information with my village’s building department that saved me thousands of dollars in construction costs.

Redesign of living space including kitchen, tv room, mud room and powder room. Doug did an amazing job from rethinking use of space through to design of the details. The end result is stunning, much better flow and a great family home.

I am a general contractor, who has been in business for 26 years, primarily doing residential renovation work in westchester county. McC Architecture is a complete approach to residential renovation. The relationship that McC Architecture develops with the customer is unique, in that they obviously develop contractural drawings, but also work with the customer in the design and project oversight areas. They are involved in the process from day 1, until completion. A very professional and organized architectural firm.

Nearly 4 years later, we are still happy and thankful for our wonderful, practical apartment kitchen design by McC | Architecture. We definitely were looking to make our small apartment much more livable. The key was opening up the kitchen from a cute but very tight 1950's era box that made it difficult to even hold two people. Other apartment owners with similar kitchens had simply made cut out which is fine and suits their needs. Mr. McClure found the inspiration to flip the access of our kitchen, which allowed for a wider, longer work space. We shrank our appliances to all be counter depth. Now, nearly any action in this bigger kitchen is still only 1 step away, very practical! As mentioned, nearly four years later, we are just as pleased as the day we first used it. The ceiling did need a support, which leads to the small wall. Overall the apartment now allows much more natural light throughout the kitchen, dining, and living rooms. Our children are able to have breakfast, snacks, and do homework, while we cook. It's great to be able to interact and help each other without walls in between. The same counter then acts as a pass through for the kids to set or clear the table. Beyond the great kitchen, the change in orientation, lengthened our dining area, so we could put in a longer table and host dinner guests more readily. McC | Architecture also attended to a host of other details related to creating new closets space, new electrical, and recessed lighting. Mr. McClure was thoughtful, polite, responsive, and provided reassurance by monitoring the progress of the work. Since working with us, we've seen several other fantastic kitchens designed by McC | Architecture. We highly recommend the services of McC | Architecture.

I’ve known and worked with Douglas Mc Clure of McC Architecture for many years. As a decorative/faux painter I’m always impressed by Douglas’s ability to listen to and communicate with clients. He is a master of detail and always shows a deep desire to incorporate a client’s vision into the existing constraints and peculiarities of their properties. Recently Douglas called me in to consult with a client who had many Victorian antiques that she wanted to incorporate into their new more contemporary living space. Douglas and I worked together with the client to give her wall finishes for her living room, kitchen and dining room that combined the client’s love of Caribbean colors with a contemporary Victorian feel.
