Complete design, refurbishment and decorating service providing a designer look at an affordable price. I am qualified in both fields of Interior Design and Painting and Decorating and my husband, John, has similar traits to me, together we can assist you to create the home of your dreams for the price in your dreams. John is qualified and experienced in the following areas, electrical work , plumbing and joinery. Our combined and varied skills mean that we are able to adapt items to your requirements, where possible. We love a challenge and the satisfaction of making you happy in your home. Our one stop shop approach is popular, because it cuts out any friction between designers and tradespeople, creating a stress free environment for you. John and I are increasing our area of work to include some areas in Shropshire as from 31st January 2020 due to us purchasing a new home there. Call us now to arrange a consultation!

John and I enjoyed working for Helen. Unfortunately it was a long process, due to the inability for us to find the necessary materials.
Thankfully, Helen was very patient with us and loves the end result

Really professional yet friendly service from the first consultation. Jan and John really listened to what we wanted, were incredibly neat and tidy throughout and the finish on the final job is impeccable. I would definitely recommend using their design and decorating services.

We are very pleased Tim and his family are happy with our work and look forward to working for him again.

I have been so impressed from start to finish when dealing with Jan and John. Obviously it hasn't been the best timing in the world when I embarked on wanting our master bedroom redecorated in the middle of a global pandemic, but Jan has kept me informed about everything and really went out of her way to get it done as quickly as she could. I felt that Jan really understood what I wanted in terms of the design and then made it reality. The quality of the finish is brilliant and I'm really happy with our new bedroom.

Jan and John and did a great job re designing our lounge/play area. They were open to lots of ideas and John did a great job in sorting out our electrics. The company they used to refit our new radiators were great as well. They always cleared up at the end of each day and were mindful that sometimes young children were in the house.

We enjoyed working for Debbie and her family. They were open to suggestions and together we created a family space that was spacious and streamlined by opening up 2 rooms in to one, thus allowing the children an area to play happily alongside their parents.

We had Jan recommended to us from a close family member as her work was so good and we had been to see the results. We were also so pleased with all the work Jan did for us and her husband John worked alongside for some of the time . Jan is extremely professional, punctual, knowledgeable and takes great pride in her work and won't stop until she is also pleased with the finished look too. Jan would text/call and keep us updated on anything we needed to know, she is a lovely friendly lady and trust worthy to leave in your property alone and we would definitely recommend her to anyone

I wanted to thankyou for your involvement in our bedroom transformation. I had delayed and put on hold time and again- overwhelmed by the amount of choice and a bit wary of anything which might seem OTT in my period house. You suggested colours and schemes and were very patient and gave a friendly service which I felt confident with-so much so that, as I approach retirement, we aim to continue our refurbishment program which had been very piecemeal upto now and Im happy to say I would welcome your input and energy in looking at our next projects as we plan to enjoy our home in retirement.

Earlier in the year we had our living and dining rooms decorated by Jan and we were delighted with the results . We found Jan and her husband John very friendly but also very professional, nothing was too much trouble. We were really pleased we chose Jan and would certainly recommend her.

Hilary and Bernard were a great pleasure to work for.
It is great to be appreciated for the work we complete, it certainly makes our work more enjoyable. They made us feel very welcome in their home and with their family.
We have since completed work for other satisfied members of the family.

I am absolutely delighted with my living room. I knew I wanted to change my room but didn't really know where to start. At my initial consultation with Jan, all I could really tell her was that I wanted some colour and wanted it to feel more cosy. I really could not tell her what style I liked but clever Jan managed to tease it out of me. Her initial advice was to choose my sofas and then to work around them. This worked really well and the room and style evolved from there. Jan will help and advise as much or as little as you want. I had a budget to work to and am happy to say it came in, within that. The work was done whilst I was away on holiday and it was such a thrill to come home to a welcoming, comfortable and tastefully decorated room. I would not hesitate to recommend Girl about the House.

I am so delighted that Mary loves it. It was very hard to keep it a secret whilst she was away, but the look on her face when she returned spoke volumes.

I would highly recommend Jan. Jan redecorated our lounge last year and did a fantastic job. Jan’s work is of very high standard. She works hard and is reliable. I will only use Jan now for any of our decorating needs. Our next project is the dinning room/kitchen and hall stairs and landing.
