Sun Valley is consistently cited as one of the best places for raising family, enjoying the simple, yet sophisticated lifestyle, or just living close to the nature, be it skiing, fishing, biking or hiking. As an architect, I have helped many people who have discovered this open secret of a town to design their dream house, from a vacation home to a full-time residence, giving them a rare opportunity to tailor that home according to their particular lifestyle and activities! With the rise in cost of both, building materials and labor, it is more important now than ever to keep the construction expenses within the set budget, a number we establish very early in the design process. To avoid the negative surprise at the end, our goal is to keep the design as close to that established number as possible, home size being the biggest variable here, followed closely by the fit and finish. Also, even though "above code" type construction in Sun Valley has always been a norm, we encourage all our clients to consider alternative energy systems and make it our responsibility as the designer to make them aware of the available options. Many architects have developed a reputation for imposing their particular design style on the client; something not important to us at all! Given a carte blanche, we tend to gravitate towards the modern design, just because we like it and to be less "traditional", however, It is more important to work with the client's lifestyle and not have them adopt to our design! So, a log-and-river rock house (aka the ski lodges), will get the same attention to details as some unusual and f funky design! We will extract the needed information from the client, while zeroing-in on the design's style and the owner's "true" taste. After some sketching and back-and-forth, we collectively select the "correct" final approach. W H O : Since opening his design-business in 1994, Eddy has created many of the finest homes in and around Sun Valley and many of his projects have been featured numerous times in local magazine's and published in books such as "Unique Homes of Idaho", "Spectacular Homes of the Northwest" or "Sun Valley Magazine".
