We chose Rhoads Estates Homes to rebuild our house after a housefire. The overriding message to John when we talked to him is that we wanted to rebuild as close to our original home as possible. Rhoads does many things well... the quality of the house is amazing. But let's talk about the things they did not do well... 1. Custom Design... We had several ideas that we wanted incorporated into the house. (i.e. a window cutout above the cabinets.) We were told "No" with no explanation. My assumption is that they were too lazy to make it happen. I could be wrong, but because they did not communicate a different reason, this is what I am going with. 2. Budget... Our home was priced well over $750k. The budget for light fixtures for the entire house was $600.00. The front entry chandelier alone was $2000. (Remember, trying to match the original home.) The budget for water fixtures for the entire house was $6000.00. We specifically stated we wanted a jacuzzi/soaker tub, which took 3/4 of the budget. We ended up having to pay for the items out of pocket because the construction loan would only cover what was in the estimate. 3. Time... We could not keep anyone working on the house. For the subcontractors, everyone else took priority over our house. It took over 3 years to build a house. We ended up selling the house 16 months after moving in and the punch list still is not done. We gave up. It ended up being a very nice house, but it cost way more than it should have and took way longer than it should have. For the price, it should have been EXACTLY what we wanted, instead of almost kinda sorta.

My family has worked on and off with Rhoads Estate Homes since my grandpa has owned our business. From remodeling to new true custom homes they haven't changed in their attention to detail and care for the craftsmanship they put into their work to this day.
