Wayne's ideas
The wood stands out to me. Laraine: I like the wood, too. I LOVE the flooring, but this is a completely different look that would take a lot of money to recreate because the wood paneling would be pricey. You could, however create a raised panel look with molding and then painting the wall and molding all one color, but personally I don’t like when they make fake raised paneling that way. Overall, when you first look at it, it gives a good impression, but as you look at it closely, you soon realize that it’s “fake.” One thing you could do is try to create this look by putting wood stained plantation shutters on the windows and stain your bathroom, closet, and entry door with a rich wood color. I would also suggest replacing your molding with a wider molding and stain it. Oh boy, lots of work. Let’s move on, shall we??? :-)))
Like the colors. LARAINE: I like this room color and would love to see bright white plantation shutters on those windows (and your windows). Of course, plantation shutters are not cheap and would probably cost about $500, but they give a room a clean look and such character. I wish we could figure out what the wall color is. Looks like kind of a mustard of some sort. I’d also put some pillows on the bed that match the walls.
This one I really like. Iron fixtures and color scheme are appealing. Gives it a Southwestern feel which I really like. LARAINE: This is similar to the other “mustard” color one but lighter. I think this would look nice with wood-stained plantation shutters, which would incorporate some of that wood look you liked in the other room. A color option and look to consider.
Like the color, although maybe too dark. LARAINE: I like this color and it could be used as an accent color if you think it’s too dark for the entire room. Grays can be very tricky though and it would have to be carefully tested before doing the entire room. My other concern is that it deviates from the colors in your bathroom. Isn’t your master bath tans? Might want to keep in that family of colors so the rooms blend together.
Like the simplicity. LARAINE: I like the simplicity of this room, too. Your bedroom always seemed dark to me. This might lighten it up some. Is it the wall color and white moldings that appeal to you in this room? Do you like the patterned rugs and the color in them? I think this scheme might be a good, and safe, start.
Contrasting wall Chocolate theme. LARAINE: I think that back wall is really a dark gray and not a dark brown. Although there’s no reason you couldn’t do it as a dark brown, but I would do an off-white on the other walls and not a pure white. Wayne: I think I want to put a dark paneling on the high wall. I like this look.
