I think this definitely needs 1 or 2 skylights, plus a counter or another island at the extreme end of kitchen where viewer is standing Under it, All slider drawers with dining table necessities either for the kitchen island bar, or the formal dining area.

I like the U shape concept w/either a walk-in pastry or a wall of pantry doors on yhe Tighlt and an open dining area behind the viewer. Possibly small ventilation windows between upper & lower countertops. Add skylight w/ suspended pots and pan racks. Mount utensil bar L/R & C of rangetop
