Humidistat fan. It used to be that exhaust fans in baths had two options for controls — the on-off switch and the timer. Now the options have multiplied, with motion detector and humidistat fans. My favorite is the humidistat — you set it to a humidity level you deem reasonable, and it will run if the humidity goes over that level, and keep running until the humidity decreases to below your set level. It doesn’t address all of the reasons you might run a fan in a bath, but it does handle the one that can make a mess of paint and other finishes: moisture. shower niche as footrest - 18" off shower floor corner shelves inset into tile
I was drooling over the Victoria and Albert freestanding tubs made of white volcanic limestone. The material helps to retain the heat of the water, and because it's mixed with resin, it creates a lightweight form in place of the heavy cast iron typically used for such tubs. So you can install one of these tubs on, say, the second story of a house or in a high-rise apartment.

Steam Shower Door » Ventilation is key to a healthy steam shower build. Incorporating airflow with bathroom exhaust fans and transoms, like in this steam shower, can lessen the time it takes to dry out a steam shower after use. Tip: Install the bathroom exhaust fan near the shower entry or transom outside the steam shower. Never install your exhaust fan inside the steam shower itself.

When space is tight, a folding shower seat can work wonders. These folding seats require solid blocking behind the wall. Make sure the framers of the project align wall studs with placement of the bench.
Putting electricity in the cabinet box can be a nice touch as well — if you want to keep hair dryers, toothbrushes and other necessities ready to go.

Hidden outlets. The scourge of bathrooms is the clambering masses of electronic devices that demand an outlet and adjacent counter space: hair dryers, electric toothbrushes, electric razors and curling irons. Don’t you wish they would all vamoose to where you can’t see them? That could be a real possibility if you install outlets inside medicine cabinets and drawers. Out of sight, out of mind until you need them.

. Rather than the tall, deep, narrow cupboard’s being fitted with basic shelving, a pullout storage system has been used instead to maximize space and ensure that the cabinet’s contents are always visible and easy to access.

vanities in the bathrooms were dressers found at antiques stores; Brie had her carpenter cut holes in them for sinks.

BRILLIANT! The architect located the shower knobs on the small half wall just inside the shower door so the Kelmans wouldn’t have to get wet when turning them on.
