Eye is drawn to the gate by its contrast with adjacent materials, and the cover over it.
entryway is welcoming
Tall gates don't look too heavy here.
Could we use metal with mesh like this? I think it provides the attributes we need functionally, but allows us to play with an artistic element for the front gate. I wouldn't choose precisely this design, but can envision another artistic design that might still work.
Trellis has a dropped section that reduces the opening but still allows clear passage. This gate has curves that could work for us. I really like it.
Solid below, open arch above with simple dividers of metal.
Arbor overhead is straight, like ours. Gate has a gentle arch, to soften the look. Solid below, open above, with verticals in the open arch. We might be able to do this with a sunrise in the arch, and a small, framed opening below.
Solid wood frames with large wood lattice that matches. I like this look, even if we modify the shape of the frame to fit our entryway.
This is a good comparison with the open fence version. I prefer the open look.
Gate is open (I like that) with square trellis over curved gate. I like this, but we'd need smaller mesh in the gate to keep animals in/out.
