Pretty much sold on the idea of white with maybe a little sparkle. A marble grey effect might work too. Has to be a really hard non staining finish like granite or quartz. Not Corian or similar as they stain.
Not the colour, way too dark but the idea of a solid engineered wall finish in the shower? Love the matching sink style but how does it sit underneath? Tina hates sinks which have underneath lips and mastic, they always go mouldy and are so hard to clean. We currently have a one piece moulded glass sink which is so easy to clean and no mould.
Under sink storage one for the kitchen designers. Has to be a pull out drawer, our present arrangement in a cupboard is woeful
General ideas for budget.
Ugh to all of these. Single colour or plain splash back with or without a picture. We currently have orange glass which had all the socket areas pre cut. We also routed all of the fuses for the appliances to two large fuse units hidden in a cupboard and placed flush in the wall of the kitchen riser.
Ugh. No to patterns and certainly not many patterns and many joints and joins. Awful!
Handholding to prevent us staying beige!
Bathroom layout options and ideas. No baths for us.
Storage and dealing with waste prompting for the kitchen designer. Tea towels and towels? Refuse? Sorting for recycling ? Avoid a free standing bin. Pots pans and Tupperware! Love the herb growing jars on wall design by Porticodesign.com
Pocket Doors, love the idea. A set in 37 between the kitchen and the siting room, probably glass with some opacity. A fire proof glass set from the hall in 37 into the lounge and from the hall in 43 into the lounge. Any advantage in using them in the bathrooms if we have to build box work and / false walls anyway for waste pipes and plumbing?think they can be fire rated and if have the fuzzy felt stuff can help with noise reduction
One for the kitchen designer. We want two. That saves loading then unloading into a cupboard. Think of the second as a storage cupboard that washes! Elevate to help in old age but this will spoil the lines in the kitchen. Near the sink and under the drainer for loading? Near the breakfast bar or near the dining table? Beware the doors impinging on walking/ standing to prep cooking areas.
Tina likes mirrors
Have to think about heating in the new kitchen. A wet underfloor would be nice but we would have to do this in both flats for control and for a holistic floor level. This could be expensive. Could install a flat electric underfloor system in the kitchen but expensive to run. Could add electric heaters on kitchen mansard walls or maybe extend current central heating system.
We will need to combine both wiring systems. Work is also needed to update both. It must be energy saving so LED. Lighting circuit will need to be installed or extended. Probably smart wiring to go with smart controls rather than traditional but can we run WIFI through smart wiring? We must have strong wifi throughout the combined flat and we will only have one router. Need to think where this goes. Doubtful it will cover the flat with concrete walls so repeaters probably needed.
Art and so where to drop keys and small items. Will be have a landline in the hall?
Downdraft extractor and good use of the limited cupboard space around the machinery for it. This would be on the side nearest the windows for us, ie on the opposite side of the island from the induction hob so spices would not work there.
White splash back with white units is too sterile so a contrast needed. Bold or subtle single colour? Where else would you pick up a splash back colour in the kitchen to set a theme? Picture on the glass splash back, not sure. It might date easily.
Clean lines in the kitchen. Probably the same colour for the units and worktops rather than a subtle contrast as shown here?
Interesting floor, plank module aligned with units. Wood effect or lighter colour? Needs to match/ mirror balcony covering. Like the hidden coffee / tea / drinks cupboard.
Downdraft extractor is preferred. Could also install the minimalist ceiling extract, there is enough roof space. Or drop part of the ceiling and install one with perimeter led lighting?
Some lovely double basins and bathroom storage ideas
Long simple desktop top for two people. Wall mounted power points in operating USB charging. Ideally not filing cabinet drawers as we will scan everything. Space for a combined scanner/ printer lower than desktop for ease of use.
Clear uncluttered desk. Single thin under desk drawer. Some storage above the desk probably with covered doors to keep clean look. Could us kitchen supplier to build from kitchen units? Wall mounted angle poise lamps to save using desk space.
Mostly what we do not want!
Grey or is this the new beige and too bland?
We want minimalist hall ways. Coats hats etc accessible but hidden in the cloaks cupboard. Shoes underneath a seat. An area to drop keys and small items. Landline?
Ideas for lighting. Have to improve on kitchen lighting and task lighting, we have that all wrong currently. Bedroom lighting is currently wrong with spots over the bed and poor side lights for reading. Existing lighting circuit with scene control works well. Something better in the new flat though. Control of bedroom lights from the bed and the door like hotel. Good face lighting in bathroom. Much better brighter lighting in shower as there is no natural light, we have currently got this wrong too.
Maximise storage with floor to ceiling units and shadow light above.
No kitchen door handles. Think about best cupboard finish to avoid greasy finger marks.
We cannot be seamless because of the upstand to the French doors or sliding windows but the inside floor should be the same or match the balcony covering in colour and style. Outside has to be easily cleaned, we will use a power washer and or brush and mop. We are frequently hit by seagull droppings. It has to be hard wearing, capable of being cut around the railings, non slip , with a proper fall to the small roof drains. It has to adhere to the asphalt covering.
Can we look at Nuance Bushboard at Bushboard.co.uk for bathroom wet room wall shower walls , driftwood grain pattern maybe ? Or New England timber pattern

Ideas for garage storage
Ideas to ensure a better budget for the project
Good advice on easy cleaning. A water softener will help.
We need to link our balcony with our kitchen.
Sadly no space for a utility area but we might borrow some of the ideas.
Notes for kitchen design to think about
Yes to floor to ceiling, we need as much storage as possible but we also need access. We saw the kitchen in Brighton which cunningly hid a set of steps in the under cupboard plinth.
Got to be thought about, every penny counts.
Yes. Colin what are you saying yes to . I don’t like shaker style
Can we solve the laundry issue?
Issues to cover for the office.
Looking for a calm design for the sitting rooms. They should be the same of different? They are linked by the kitchen diner..One will be for TV and general use, the other as a reception, talking reading staring at the sea.
Pocket doors definitely to divide 37 sitting room and ideally from both halls.
Lighting and lighting control is crucial. We have had Luton systems and want to move on from these.
Ideally sliding
A pop up in the island and a ceiling extractor. Low sound level is crucial. We have two jet engines at the moment.
Drawers no cupboards. Power pop up in island. Tea and coffee cupboard or exposed on the worktop?
Need a lighting planner / designer and to work with a smart home designer or one and the same?
Something stone. Solid, not a cold temp like marble, warmer. Sealed. Heat proof although we can use silicone and trivets. Modern materials like Corian stain.
We don’t have space for one but which ideas can we borrow and use. Dirty clothes storage. Avoiding too much lifting and carrying etc. Storage of detergents and conditioners nearby etc.
Identifying and coding the zones is helpful. Good examples of use of colour accents in white kitchens.
Thoughts about Island use and storage
Island thoughts and breakfast bars, storage, seating and space use.
Linking the kitchen with the dining and sitting areas or are the sitting areas separate colour and design?
We have a small wine cooler now. We will have a much larger fridge but we need to keep a separate cooler so we do not fill the fridge.
Some thoughts and ideas to ponder / incorporate. Many stand in the kitchen while food is prepped.
Useful for the spare bedroom? Tc no won’t be able to reach it Need horizontal
