SYI: 1645
this is 8.33" D - the smallest I feel comfortable with. Houzz needs to make it easier to see details (I don't know overall hanging width) but this could work.
lovely - but need overall hanging length again
again possibly but need to know overall hanging length
possibly - but Houzz is not showing me overall hanging length :/ - you need 72"
I like this for the black and wood effect - but at 3.5" diameter, it is too small over an island. (Great perhaps for your powder room.) - Also I would be inclined to go with a round fixture to mimic the roundness of the neyer mobile bulbs.
I love these mobile pendants by Andrew Neyer Fixture: Width Adjustable From 58", Adjustable To 88". DIning table option. JL: I really like this one. Probably my second one assuming that you can adjust them so that they also run perpendicular to one another (instead of all in parallel). Would it look too small with ceiling lofted? SY: No I do not think so, but we can try it out. It is $2000 retail. Height 15" + an up to 48" downrod = max 63" - and I believe 63" is perfect! Dropping to about 33" - 36" above your table. I'll have Leslie put it in elevation.) 5 60W Incandescent bulbs specified. (Note: Lumens says the H is 6" but I cross checked other sites and am pretty sure that with 3 arms it is 15"). WE WILL CHECK ABOUT VAULTED CEILING MOUNT. Also cool: All products are produced in their small studio located just outside of Cincinnati, Ohio.
not this many over island but with these globe bulbs to match the andrew neyer dining table fixture
Green. Actually I think yellow looks better with the gray-blue cabinets. Tried blue, not as good. I hear you on not red or purple. :)
green alfi stool with black legs
here's that hood you like straight on. Very nice. You are sourcing, yes? We shall just draw this in at 30" wide.
this is pretty great JW: Nice stool... does it come in other colors. Will the natural wood legs clash with all the other woods? SY: See image of green with black legs. Image board in progress - will help us see if black or wood legs better. :)
just enough red - but kids might fall off the back. (you can get one at a discount because it's an open box return :) JW: See previous note about red. Not a big fan of this stool.
upholstery is not a great idea with kids but the shape is safe and ample - and good fun colors too
bar stool thinking - I like the red JW: Don't like these. Looks a bit like the outline of a devil's head... SY: lol.
note the great red effect with this color scheme (open up the image to see the chairs to the right). (but that gets into what your furniture will be in the rest of the space...) JW: So... we don't really like red. Sorry. We might be up for a green, orange, yellow, or maybe blue though... SY: Check! I am into almost all colors. It drives my kids crazy that I won't pick a favorite. :)
convection/built in microwave under cabinet JW: Planning on built-in convection microwave. Looking at reviews now, probably 27 or 30 wide.
convection/built in microwave in island JW: Like built-in on island...
again, shelf microwave (not convection/built-in)
shelf microwave? (not convection/built-in?)
I also really like the wood peaking through inside the cabinets.
I really want you to want this. :) I think it'd be a nice effect to come in to from the front door - and more storage.
hood at angle
https://andrewneyer.com/product/sloped-canopy/ . SY: yay CHW: must be ordered separately
hood between windows like yours will be JW: I think I like this hood more than the boxier styles... but I’m not sure and should talk to Jen. JL: I think I actually like the boxier hood. I wish there were a photo from this angle with all the windows of a boxier hood though b/c I'm having trouble figuring out if I just like it better b/c of angle. SY: So you have images of the boxier hood straight on (tho no windows) and angled. And I will drop another image of this kitchen so you can see this type straight on (above) and at an angle too. JW: See other comment... boxier but a little angle like in the pic three to the left.
boxier hood
low profile boxier hood JW: We have conferred... boxier it is. We like this one (boxy but still with a small angle)
boxier hood
niche behind stove - we do this a lot. But I also like just flat continuous tile behind the stove. (Also note: we need to think about hood.) JW: not really a fan of the niche, can see more utility over the sink than the oven. JL: Also not a fan. SY: got it. Will leave it simple.
paper towel option JW: I prefer the other option for paper towel storage both for aesthetics and for not taking up the a whole cabinet spot. JL: me too. SY: got it
paper towel options - this one is concealed JW: like it
there are all kinds of options for under the sink
JW: this is nice as is the cabinet with vertical dividers. We’re currently doing OK just putting them in a 12 inch cabinet. JL: Agreed...this level of organization is way more than I need so if Jason's good with the 12" cabinet, that works great for me. SY: aok.
I love the drawer above to reclaim the headspace JW: agreed. We actually had one at an old house that had a drawer with a separate front above the trash. Either way it would be good. SY: good. Check. This is maybe 15-18" wide too. JW: Cool, more room for other stuff.
two in one pull out (recycling and trash)
trash and recycling pull out - do you need a lot? or will you take it out pretty regularly to the garage? JW: The sizes shown here would be perfectly adequate. SY: great. This is likely 15 or 18" wide. On the sheet you sent me you thought 30" - ok to reduce 18"?
let's nail down your coffee bar too - I love a contrast material inside (though I think I'll do wood inside gray, opposite this image). Talk to me about functionality.
also time to start thinking about cabinet functionality. We much prefer deep drawers like these over doors with drawers inside for pots and pans and dishes and even glasswear. What about a spice pullout like this by your oven? Remember you have no uppers by your oven. JW: More detail than you probably want in a separate email. Drawers are awesome. Spices in pantry are fine unless we end up with extra space. SY: got it
black pulls tying to darker gray grout in the subway tiles.JW: I like the black pulls and the gray grout. JL: Me too. SY: me three.
black pulls on full overlay white shaker cabinets
black pulls on white shaker full over lay drawers (I don't love this placement)
If we do just the gray island, I want your pantry door to be chalkboard. ;) We need to pull that black into the perimeter. Also note the effect of 5 stools (see adjacent image with commentary about stools). JW: I’m fine with just island in gray. Not sure about Jen. Chalkboard approved. Might hide sheet metal behind chalkboard paint to make it magnetic. SY: Actually they make magnetic chalkboard paint! But you won't want to put things on it if it's a pocket door.
black pulls on white shaker full overlay cabinets - these are too long and I don't love their placement, but it gives you the idea of the pull being black against white cabinets. JW: I like a lot of things about this picture. The flooring is very nice and the pantry looks dreamy. That’s right, I said dreamy :) JL: I also like this a lot despite my earlier comments about white. Jason and I haven't talked about this for awhile, but I also really like the wood shelves if there's any place for those in our design. Jason, it may become less necessary with a nice pantry, but I like having some shelving for maybe a fruit bowl or plants or something. SY: hmmmmm. I think to get you shelves in the kitchen we'd be taking away windows. But! maybe on the wall to the right of the pantry door!
white shaker overlay cabinets with stainless/brushed handles.
this is more like your house style, and I don't love it with the green.
