Riverfront condo, Philadelphia
This client had lived in Europe and Asia and her interior reflects this sense of Eastern/Western mix. The modern paintings are by her daughter. The client had downsized from an expansive house in the suburbs to a light filled, but small condo over the Delaware River in Center City Philadelphia. We placed this oversized mirror to reflect the view over the city, so that the client would not only see the Ben Franklin Bridge over the river from her window, but at the same time see the skyline of the city in the mirror. Effectively, we created another window in the small condo. The sparkle at night from the lights of the bridge over the river and the city create such a romantic and expansive mood in this small space. While so much of the furniture had right angles and straight lines, by placing the design on an angle, we cut the harshness of the "box" and created angles leading to the view in the mirror. The coffee table is a vintage piece handcrafted of several inset woods. The custom wool kilim rug is hand stitched by special order.
