Open-Plan Family Kitchen, Copthorne
We were briefed to transform this converted garage block into a spacious, open-plan kitchen for a family with older kids living at home. The kitchen needed to provide plenty of space for everybody to get together but also to cook and have downtime independently from each other too.
With a huge 55sqm space to work with, it was important to create a kitchen that still felt homely and connected. The large island with breakfast bar works really well here, creating a natural focal point and place to socialise, as well as providing more food prep space and a prep sink. The island features a BORA downdraft extraction hob and a stylish black Quooker tap for the prep sink.
This lovely painted shaker kitchen with lay-on doors is finished in Farrow & Ball’s Hague Blue. This is a great blue for a large kitchen; the colour is rich and has a timeless quality to it. The elegant veined quartz worktops are Misty Carrara by Cullifords and work so well with the inky blue of the furniture. To complete the look, we used Crofts & Assinder’s cup handles in American Copper.
This kitchen is ready for the biggest of family gatherings. In addition to the BORA hob and Quooker tap, this kitchen features The 1810 Company sink and tap, NEFF ovens and a Rangemaster! We’ve even got another combi oven tucked away in the breakfast diner area creating multiple cooking zones for this busy family.
To create more warmth and texture in such a large space, we incorporated a walnut breakfast bar into the island. This is a beautifully rich and tactile wood and provides a lovely contrast to the cool quartz.
Working with the sloping ceilings, we designed a bespoke canopy hood for the extractor above the Rangemaster.
