Lakeside Kitchen
Located on Lake Kegonsa near Stoughton, Wisconsin, this dwelling is home to a pair of empty nesters and one energetic dog. The homeowners, who entertain often, desired a residence that would facilitate ease of entertaining and would highlight the lovely lake views. They also wanted a kitchen perfectly suited for hosting guests aplenty. To achieve their dreams, they called on Allen Curran, CKD, WRID , of Bella Domicile, Inc.
To craft a culinary space to meet his clients' needs, Curran designed an open, spacious floor plan. A raised half-wall snack bar clad in stone (a design element used in adjoining spaces) delineates the kitchen from the adjoining family room and seats six or seven, allowing for conversations with the cook while capitalizing on the lake vista.
An island provides a large work space for meal prep, and its natural wood counter provides a place for the chef to easily chop vegetables and filet fish from the lake. The Sharp microwave drawer oven sits beneath the wood cutting surface. With ample room to prepare meals as well as host friends and family, this lake-view kitchen continues to exceed the homeowners' lofty expectations.
