Bloomington, Roundhill Lane Home
We gutted the galley kitchen and widened it, removing bulkhead and adding a window more than triple the size of the one there. I repurposed some cabinets I found on line by a broker, cutting and fitting them into a sensible layout and painting them with cabinet paint. The stainless apron front sink called for a Belgian linen skirt, anything else we tried left the room with a stark coldness. Eventually I installed marble countertops, leaving the butcher block by the stove. With the deep corner cabinet, two large easy glide drawers on the other side of the room, a pull-out hidden trash bin and a pantry, the room had plenty of cabinet space to leave an area open shelving, creating a modern, clean feeling.
