Berry Mountain - Alteration and Addition

Traditional open-plan living spaces have been popular over the years, with many opting for a large living and dining area unified by a single colour palette. However, a trend has recently been towards creating different zones within an open-plan space to provide more flexibility and functionality. These separate zones can be used for different activities such as entertaining, relaxing or even working from home. There are several ways. One way is to use the furniture as a divider, such as an armchair or bookcase. Another option is to create physical barriers like walls, shelving units or even curtains that define each space while allowing them to be easily opened up and connected. You can also incorporate different flooring materials, such as carpets, rugs or parquet floors, which can help to differentiate the different zones. Finally, a clever use of lighting can also be used to further define each area, with brighter lights for working or entertaining and softer mood lighting for relaxing. With all these tips in mind, you’ll soon have an open-plan space that creates separate and distinct areas within one unified design.
