need help with noisy road

We live in a wooded area in Colorado and our backyard backs up to a noisy road. We can see and hear the cars. We are at 7300 ft and it is hard to plant enough trees that will grow or grow fast enough to make a difference. We are also under a covenant and are not allowed to build a wall. Any suggestions? (you can see the blue car in the picture)

IF they won't approve the berm, a dense planting of native bushes would help immensely. Under pines trees, natives will need less care and watering (after the first year) than most other plants. Check with your local conservation district, extension or even a good plant store for advice on what native dense evergreen bushes to plant.

plants and fences help with visual, but not sound. a berm does help with sound.

I have used clumping bamboo as, as it is a tall resilient plant, it actually does serve to break up soundwaves caused by speeding traffic. However, in your environment it would probably not be acceptable due to the environment and your HOA
