Need suggestion for wall colours to match the fireplaces

We are renovating our house with original arts and crafts fireplaces with different colours. We can't decide whether to use wallpapers or colour paint for the walls to keep the character of the house while also have a sense of modern comfort. We also need compatible curtain colour scheme.

    Your fireplaces are amazing: color, pattern, shapes! I would definitively play with them and make them focal points. From your idea books I see you like neutral colors with pop of colors, right? This is perfect in this case!

    If you use neutral colors on your walls like greys,... and use matching colors to your fireplace in your accent elements like pillows, vases, accessories or art.... and also window treatment it surely will make an amazing impact. To add extra and much needed depth and organic style don't forget to use complementary colors to that accent color (you don't want to overuse it and fall into the monotony).

    Reuse also the patterns displayed on the fireplace for your rugs, pillows etc...

    At last i'm a fond lover of modern wall papers. It's sexy! It adds life, fun, interest, and so much style to a space. Since you have so many rooms, play with the opportunities and support your decision on the purpose they have : a few rooms neutral (could be your formal living room), others a bright complementary color to the one of the fireplace (entertainment/family room), wall paper in the others (bedrooms and dining room)...

      Apart from the first fireplace, which is in the south facing living room, the other fireplaces are all for second floor bedrooms. I don't want to use wall papers for all of them as it might be too costly and hard to maintain. I like your idea of reuse the fireplace pattern on accessaries. I haven't thought of that.

      Paint is less costly, easy to change when you want, and easy to match to anything in your room you want to theme around.

      Greetings 88 designs, and thank you for firing up my design engines this morning with your inspirational post. The stunning colors -- in your case colours (are you in the UK perhaps?) -- of your tiles will assist greatly in your choices.       Very soft pale yellow. Contrast a little to see the beauty of your fireplace. Then punch in all accent colors. Rich chocolate reds, tans, shades of gray & splash of yellow?
