Please help us replace the bathroom lighting on mirror

Hi all, we have a bathroom with retro theater makeup room lighting, which we don't particularly like (and which doesn't light up the bathroom all that well). We'd like to update the look by putting in new lights but aren't sure how, especially since the mirror has holes cut out in three places for the old lights (see the second photo). Hoping folks here might have some suggestions--we're very open. Thanks!

Sorry, the second photo got messed up. Fixed in the attachment here, hopefully.

That Hollywood lighting is so popular because it's quite inexpensive. Have you considered a modified track lighting? That could add depth, and you could move each light to accent whatever you want.

    Thanks for these great ideas!

We like the idea of painting gray--that's definitely on the list.

I'm reluctant to try to remove the mirror, although the extra storage space would be great--it seems like there's a good chance of it breaking, since it's probably glued to the wall. Is there a relatively painless/safe way to do that?

Retro Planet, are you thinking of a bathroom fixture or actually looking for general wall track lighting?

You take blue tape and put plastic over mirror, add blue tape in all directions in a criss cross. Then take a crow bar or something strong to get behind mirror to pry off it might just remove easy or you may have to break and take off. Either way you will bring your bathroom into 21 century. Not that hard.
