Wait until you can plant these outside. If you buy and pot inside until moving them out. You'll need to take great care of them. Providing the correct potting soil, light, warmth, and water.

Wow, these are really inexpensive! They cost upwards of 40-45$ over here (eastern Canada) for bare roots!

Hey mazerolm - I don't know what you are looking for but Vesey's, Breck's and Botanus all have plants for under $30 - some as low as $10.

@Bruce: maifleur is correct, I was looking at Itoh peonies. I bought a Cora Louise from Veseys last October, it was half-priced, and cost about 35$.

@Dar: wow, that looks like a very healthy plant! It has many eyes! Mine only had 3-4. I hope it survives winter, as I planted it a couple of weeks before we had snow.

Mazerolm: Some of them had eyes popping up near the rim of the pot. I have been back at least 3 times ready to lift it into my shopping cart but the price though.

@Dar: yeah, the price would stop me as well.

@mazerolm, I hope your Cora Louise does well! I bought mine from a local nursery $39 on sale in May (Toronto area) in 2016 and still waiting for it to bloom. It seems healthy but I am so ready to see a bloom or 2 this year! If not, it’s coming out.

On the other hand, I think I will get some first blooms on 2 tree peonies bought on fall 2018 clearance (same nursery) as I bought them well after bloom period, but looked like they had been deadheaded. Shimanishiki and Kinshi. About the same price, but they were marked down 60%.

@B Maggic: Thanks! I’m not expecting blooms this year. Hope you see flowers this year!

I’m in MD, I saw these a few weeks back, I ended up going back purchasing one. Already potted up. This week I also went to Lowe’s and saw them at an even lower price $6.98. Couldn’t resist. Also potted up. Hopefully it goes well. Interesting that both are from the same distributor “Garden State Bulb”

I had never considered itohs for my garden until seeing this post! My HD didnt have these anymore (for obvious reasons) but I ordered a set from eden brothers. Hoping they do well here in North Texas! I know my herb, peonies are about to bloom, I guess winter was good to them!

Itohs should perform much better than most herbaceous in N Texas, Keely. Need less chill time.

Home Depot in Richmond Virginia has bulbs and roots on sale, marked down 50 percent, including boxed Itoh peonies. There were three In a box for $15, half of the regular $29.98. I couldn’t resist. The store also had potted Itohs.
